    my first snus impression

Well, I received my order from northerner this morning and tested it right away:

I've started with general white portion and the only thing I can say is wow! That stuff is strong! I am a snuff user and always liked the nicotine kick it gives instantly ( and everything else about snuff) but the snus is, in my opinion, way stronger.

the snuff nic hit lasted about 30 sec while the snus is loooooooooooooong. Can't say I don't like that. I think for the first time in my life, I am able to sit and do nothing!

The comparison for me is that snus is like a super power herbal tea, good taste and really relaxing.

    glad i found it

    Alexis

p.s. for those who don't use snuff, I would suggest you try it, it's different but also great

Hello Alexis. Glad you are enjoying the snus.

It is nice to be able to get one's nicotine while keeping the hands free.

I've done only a little snuff myself, but I do enjoy it too.

Welcome to SnusOn. There are a bunch of us snuff users on here as well. I think snuff along with snus helped kick the cigs. You'll get used to the nic ride that snus gives in time. My brother in law started using snus after quitting cigs for three years (SnusOn member Atreynkun) and he had to go easy with snus at first.

Just curious. were you ever a cigarette user, or American dip user before you started using snuff, or was snuff your first nicotine??

But yes, as you are discovering, snus is quite different. expect the nicotine to stay in your blood for well over an hour with snus. If you are curious about the science, here is an explanation about the nicotine uptake form Swedish Match.. http://www.swedishmatch.com/en/Snus-...cotine-uptake/

Welcome Alexis and glad to hear you found the wonderful world of snus! I've become a bit of a snuffer myself but actually let snus lead my way to snuff. Now I'm hitting a roadblock about the snuff with my fiance. She can't stand that I do it even whilst not around her. You are spot on with the nicotine delivery differences. Snuff its hard and short whereas snus seems to maintain a nice steady nicotine experience for a good 30min.s plus and the actual flavor can last much longer.

Every time I take a sniff in front of my husband he tells me how disgusting I am....oh well, not like his smoking habit was better.

Welcome Alexis (I almost named 2 of my 3 girls that, I love that name )

I use both products and love them. It is a hobby for me.

Good luck on your snus journey.

              First Snus Impression

Hello Alexis, welcome to the snuson forum and to the world of Swedish Snus.

My first impression was using oomph while I was visiting a friend in Chile and after some further research I found other brands and flavors I enjoy much more. Thunder to name one. I found that it allowed me to quit smoking and that was such a relief for me. I have now introduced it to many of my friends and coworkers and it has become very popular and many others are enjoying the freedom from smoking.

Welcome and let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

                    thanks for the tips,

to answer the questions: i used to smoke but it was a few years back, I am not using snus to stop smoking but it's nice to finally not crave for a cigarette

yes i was talking about nasal snuff

Maybe my timing this morning wasn't perfect :-) I had to go train (boxing) one hour after my first snus and had to stop in the middle of the training because I was feeling sick... I should have though of that!

                    I'll start slowly...

Since you don't have recent smoking history, and been using just snuff, maybe mini's might be an easier transition. Half (more or less) of the nicotine asa regular. Definitely stay away from the sterks for a while

Hi Alexis, I'm a relative newcomer as well, and from what I've sampled so far, my impression is "flavored" (mint, etc) snus tends to be lighter on the tobacco flavor (while stronger on the added flavor of course), whereas non-flavored snus has a more pronounced tobacco flavor.

I just got a new order in today and reached for the Skruf Original first, and I think I like it. It's got a milder tobacco flavor and a little more nicotine than an average portion (9mg vs 8mg). I'm still nursing my first piece, but I think this may become a "regular" for me.

But keep in mind your tastes may change, even over the course of a can. I'm currently on a can of Goteborgs Rape which I liked going into it, but I'm starting to lose enthusiasm for it. Conversely, I hated Thunder Frosted Mini when I started on a can, but really warmed up to it towards the end.

Trying different types of snus is half the fun.

                              Welcome aboard, Alexis!

I started using snus recently, after coming from about 4 years of dipping. The dip I usually use is Grizzly, probably the strongest you can buy here in the U.S. When I tried General Onyx (and then Grov Svart) portion snus, I was impressed as to how different the nicotine hit from snus feels as opposed to the buzz of dip. Of course, I was used to having nicotine in my bloodstream from dipping, but still, the feel of a snus nicotine hit is more of a "pure" experience. If you decide you like snus and want to go a bit stronger with time, I'd recommend trying the General Onyx. Classy looking with a really nice flavor!
