What IS the deal with Thunder?!

    ~~
Some of you may have seen my previous posts about the quality of Thunder I've received. Well, I needed to vent/ask/whatever now that I've had more.

Not too long ago, I finally received some Thunder that was sloppily moist again after experiencing a 30 or so can run of dry, fluffy portions. My first thought was "Thunder is BACK!', and went online and ordered another half roll of Frosted (the wet stuff I got was wintergreen).

So I got my box today, and ripped it open, drooling, for a sloppy wet Frosted. Lo and Behold, it was dry and fluffy again.

What is the freakin' deal here? Is Frosted just being made dry now while the Wintergreen is made wet? The Frosted had a further out 'best by' date than the wintergreen, so it should have been made after the Wintergreen. Considering the date is almost in winter of this year, I'm assuming this product is fresh.

One difference I've noticed: The wet portions have a flat seam. The dry ones i've received all have a cross-cross, X shaped design along the seam.

What the HELL is going on?

I think the issue is V2 is tiny compared to Swedish Match, and they are simply not nearly as consistent. Especially as they are desperately trying to keep up with demand.

I noticed that from time to time when I used Frosted all the time.

But as Sage says, they have their hands full with the demand. As they become a stronger company and grow with their business, the consistency issues will work out, I'm sure.

Slight differences in fullness, or moistness, I can see, but this has one hell of swing from one to the other. It's almost like a completely different product.

It makes me wonder which of the two is actually intentional. Is it supposed to be really moist? Or is it supposed to be the drier product? I've gotten more of the dry than the wet.

Im under the impression that they are supposed to be a pretty moist product. Ive been through plenty of rolls from GetSnus now, and mine are consistantly nice and moist, the same everytime. I would actually not like them to be dried out. If I got some dry Thunder, Number one Id be pissed, and number two Id be thinking they spent some time on the floor of some hot werehouse somewhere. As from Buysnus comes from overseas (unless Im wrong), that may well be the case.

Nothing is better that a nice, moist Thunder Frosted portion fresh out of the freezer, IMHO. (Except for General Wintergreen that is, lol!)

See that's weird because Getsnus is where all this Thunder has been coming from for me. It was making think of ordering some from buysnus just to see if they're getting different stuff.

I am starting to think that the differences are coming from what market the snus was created for. I have noticed that the thunder I get from getsnus has the label printed in english, and does not have the ingredients listed. The thunder I get from northerner, even from their american warehouse is not like this.

It is not just the moistness of the product, they have been coming in completely different portions all together. The ones I have recieved from northerner were the typical wet, flat, half filled portions that we all know, while the ones I have been getting from getsnus are pretty much identical to the portions that gotlands puts their snus in, dryer, thicker, not as wide, and the seams are made completely differently.

I personally prefer the new ones, they really resemble 01 and 02 portions to me. I find the flavor of them to be strong (though not as strong as the old ones), and they don't seem to drip at all, which allows me to leave them in much longer. I have found them to be pretty moist though, but dry in comparison to the old ones.

Buysnus casts Swedish magic on all Thunder orders to keep them moist during their long journey to the New World.

Actually I'm getting a little pissed as of late myself. If you've been following some of my posts & review regarding Thunder Berry then you have come to the conclusion I've been pleased with this new snus.

Now as I'm towards the bottom of the tin, I am noticing a lot of inconsistency with the portions and they don't have near the content, some are damn near empty but intact and sealed. I've been trying quite a few different snus and so far these have been my only experience on a drastically under-stuffed pouch. No wonder with these even listed at 16mg nic per portion, I'm barely feeling anything different from a standard 8mg snus.

C'mon V2. Get your act together! You have some fine snus becoming more and more popular but you are going to turn people away without better consistency. I was about to make my first "Roll" purchase of snus with the TB, now I'm holding off a bit and just ordering 1 or 2 cans at a time.

Out of fridge time makes a big difference in the moisture content of the portions. I too find the other aspects of the portions from V2 quite inconsistant. Tho I don't mind too much. They did go out of their way to make the coffe/van again for us/me.

This new batch is alittle more bitter than other batches of coffe/van. But I have found that its because its really fresh. If I open a tin and leave it out of the fridge for about 5 days then its pretty much normal.

I had about 100 tins from Getsnus that I was finishing up that were all pretty dry. I'm thinkin cuz they were close to the best by date. So I had gotten used to a drier portion. When this new batch showed up it blew me away how moist they were. Keep an eye on the best by date when determining the moisture content. I reeally doubt that a fresh batch will be drier than an older batch. just mho
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Take these words as constructive criticism. V2, you make some of my personal favorite snus. Just don't want to see a good thing go bad.
