    London Calling any Snusers!

I just discovered a Swedish Bar/Restaurant 'Nordic bar' here in central London.

    <a href=http://nordicbar.com>Nordic Bar </a>

    <a href=http://maps.google.com/maps?q=25+Newman+Street+London+W1T+1PN>Map</a>

and wondered if any Snusers would want to meet up for some Pytt i Panna or other lunch and coffee and a snus and maybe a plopp bar!

You can also print out a voucher from their site that will entitle you to a £4.50 main course.

Hmmm.....an interesting concept as I cant say Sweden is a centre of culinary excellence apart from the herring, lingonberries and meatballs.

But I'd be up for it some time....I'd need to get a train and a taxi/bus/tube combo as there's no way I'd drive when there's lots of vodka on offer....

If you go there will be trouble.

Also get your damn rotaries out of the USA. We're on to you.

I have a question about life in London...

                  Weeknights they close at 11pm,
                  Friday and Saturday Midnite,
and they're closed all together on Sunday?

Is that normal for bars in London?

Midnight?! Bars here close when the police finally come in and yell at people saying "Don't you think you've had enough?????"

They do close on Sundays however they could open if they wanted licensing laws in the UK allow bars to open on Sundays.

Also, the 11pm closing time was done away with years ago.

Now, the law is (I think) that bars must shut for at least two hours a day.

But in reality most stay open until midnight or so depending on their location and clientele. Some typical pubs shut at 11pm, but "trendy" bars tend to stay open later. It's really down to the owner.

Most clubs are open until at least two, but some are open all night.

Basically, London's licensing laws are pretty much the same as any other big city now - you can drink all night if you want, but most places shut so the staff can go home...

Oh - and all bars and restaurants can legally on on Sundays too - but most pubs will only open for a few hours (11-3?) over Sunday lunchtime, then another session (7-11?) on Sunday evening. Some places are open all day though. Again - it just depends on what the owners want to do.

Thanks guys, the only bars I've ever been to outside the states were in Canada. I didn't know what was considered "normal" in the UK.

Most of the bars I've ever known here in the states stay open till 2 or 4am depending on the city or the county.

The worst I'd seen was a bar in Cleveland Ohio that never closed. They removed all drinks at 4am, and for one hour, all you could order was soda, but after the hour was up the alcohol resumed.

I've also seen dry counties in the south that have no bars at all, and I've seen some bars that are beer and wine only (no hard stuff).
