Plus. I detest, and don't see the point of white portions other than as a marketing exercise
Wow, say you think all los is "better" tobacco than portion snus and now you go on to dis whites. Wow.
Umm...if you really can't tell the difference between a white a regular. If you really think the ONLY difference is a marketing exercise??? Then I would just say you aren't qualified to say much about anything about snus at all. Sorry for the harshness, but bone-ass stupid statements like that I am just always gonna challenge.
Whites and regulars are made differently, they juice up at measurably different rates. It is obviously NOT just a marketing exercise..
Right on!!!! And without whites I would never have gotten my wife to try snus. Some people seem so narrow minded with their opinions. They don't see a need for something (because its not for them), so there couldn't possibly be a good reason for it then. Whites are great if you want a somewhat dryer snus experience without all the brown juice that so many regular portions produce. And no way in hell my wife will ever try los. I also find the whites much softer and less irritable than regular portions, so when my gums get sore I use whites.
So yea, there are quite a few positive reasons for having whites around.

Sorry - of all the snus brands I have tried that offer both, I just don't like the whites as much as I like the regular portions. And I prefer the los of all the brands i have tried so far to the portions of the same brand - white or regular.
Having said that, I do use significantly more portion snus than los - simply for ease of use in many situations, where I'd rather trade off a bit of flavour or have a slightly different flavour for the convenience.
Now, whites and regular portions ARE of course made differently - basically the white portions miss out the last "spray with tobacco juice" stage - so in my experience, they are slower to get going, which I'm not keen on. I also prefer a moister portion bag too - so again regular portions win out for me. What's more, I find some of the whites use different portion material - some I like and some I don't. That's just me though - and I fully appreciate that others have different tastes and opinions.
However - it IS all about marketing. It's about appealing to a broader market to grow sales and revenue.
Here's a definition of marketing: "the action or business of promoting and selling products or services, including market research and advertising."
Despite being hundreds of years old, snus use really took off when portion snus was first brought to market. It appealed to more people who couldn't be bothered to bake a pris, or were repelled by the thought of that fine tobacco in their mouths. That was driven by market research into how to appeal to a broader customer base. It worked.
With the introduction of the white portion - which broadens the market by also appealing to people who didn't like the idea of all the tobacco juice staining their fingers, again - it's a marketing move to increase the market size by bringing out a targetted product variant. If it wasn't all about marketing, then there'd still only be los snus!
That's not a bad thing, BTW - and of course there are differences between the products, which are very carefully researched, developed and then marketed to appeal to specific groups of people. Take for example the introduction of minis and similar small flavoured snus designed specifically to appeal to women - who have not traditionally been a large chunk of the snus market. Now the manufacturers are trying to appeal to them to grow the market. Again - this is a good thing as it drives availability of different products that you'd be unlikely to see otherwise.
Having said all that, I'd rather still have a "regular" version of some of my favourite brands such as Onyx for example where I like the flavour, but don't like the portion material or dryness of the thing at the start.

Seems to me that white portions are sorta the equivalent to light cigarettes. I know you could also make a case for minis, but those seem more like a half cigarette, not a light. I'd love to know the story behind the introduction of white portions, because it seems like they could indeed have been a marketing exercise, like.....how are we going to diversify our product line and sell more? Or they very well may have been the product of research and customer input regarding drip etc. Most likely it was a combination of both...but I'm a noob and really have no idea.
Well I think whites are less needing of refrigeration so you can keep your can in your pocket longer...
as far as these bags I bought ... not a great deal. I got 200 and they are about two inches long but open on one end so I think the intent is for one bag to be used once... I don't know about sealing them... haven't looked into it. In that case they are sealable with an iron, you might get two out of each bag but I think the intent is one... OK so thats not so bad but I looked at my credit card statement and it was twenty bucks for the 200 bags....
I am getting my Roda Lacket loose and testing that out again and am sure I will like it but besides that probably going to stick to Roda Lacket portions and perhaps Grov... if I try them and like them as well as Roda Lacket... or just stick to RL...
