My first snus!! Enjoying it as I type this. :)

I just popped in my first snus a few minutes ago! A mini portion of General original.

The mini portion is completely invisible and I haven't felt a need a spit or even swallow any differently than if I wasn't snussing.

I also have a roll of CatchDry peppermint white mini-portion for discrete use in public, a roll of General original normal size portion, and a roll of General Wintergreen white normal size portion, and a can of Onyx white portion that came for free.

This is awesome!!!! The General smells like some Wilsons of Sharrow nasal snuff that a friend had, a flavor that I wished I could enjoy without having to use nasal snuff. (I'm just not down with the whole concept of inhaling tobacco and the messiness around it.)

The only bummer is that I ordered that roll of Wintergreen, I don't think I want anything 'artificially' flavored after trying this. I only ordered Wintergreen since I figured I would enjoy it no matter what, and I will. But this General original flavor is an instant classic for me.

What I am wondering right now is what the difference between the white and normal portion really means? I haven't tried the white portion yet, but I'm not sure what the difference is beyond that it is 'drier'. Will the white portion be even more discrete since it's less likely to cause 'brown juice' that could stain my teeth while snusing?

I've also put all of my rolls inside plastic bags in the freezer since I'm pretty sure my supply would go bad before I could use it, otherwise. I hope the freezing doesn't hurt the experience too much, but it's a necessity since my supply will last so long.

My history with tobacco has only been the occasional, sometimes daily, cigar. So I'm not using snus to quit smoking or anything, just to enjoy the medicinal benefits of tobacco without the downsides of most other methods of enjoyment.

Well, time to try out that Onyx! Make Zest!

The white portions are simply dry portions. They are slower to release flavour and nicotine but the portion lasts longer and an open tin will go longer before going 'stale'. There are slight differences in character of flavour, saltiness, etc, but without trying them it's difficult to really put your finger on it. Matter of preference. Keeping your snus in the freezer is the way to go, mind you - they'll stay much fresher in there. Far from doing any harm, it's probably the best way to store your snus for those of us who don't have the luxury of a store nearby (lucky Swedes!) to buy it fresh all the time.

      Day 2 of snusing.

Tried a mini white portion CatchDry peppermint at work to help me focus and relax. Awesome stuff. I honestly did not feel a difference between the 'feel' of the white in my lip vs. the moist (but these are mini portions so maybe it doesn't matter so much), but it was great. Nice flavor and I was sportin' a buzz with no one the wiser. ;-)

Been enjoying an Onyx portion this evening (taking it out and putting it back in a couple times since I'm a lightweight when it comes to the nicotine).

I don't really get the 'burn' for whatever reason, I notice it, but it's not 'bad' at all, feels good. I think I need to find a low-nicotine flavorful loose snus though. The portions are great, but I want some more flavor. I think I'll end up dipping the loose snus in my lower lip like the times I've tried American dipping snuff, to get the juices flowing.

I hope this stuff keeps a low profile so the health nannies don't end up putting their cross hairs on it and taxing the living crap out of it. (or trying) I live near indian reservations so I can get tobacco cheap if I have to, but they don't have snus.

      Good times.

I've heard Roda Lacket is low in nicotine and flavorful. I've tried it, I don't find it too flavorful, but I'm giving it another go on the order i just put in. (maybe getting a can now in the winter as opposed to late summer might make the flavor different) I do know it's low in nicotine though. However it's not the kind you want to do in the lower lip. It's so finely ground that if it gets mixed with spit you just get a mouth full of mud. It's not easy trying to use it in the upper lip without it leaking and coating your mouth with the miniscule bits, but using it in the lower lip is futile. maybe you can do the portions even if their flavor is stunted compared to loose.
I just found the flavor to be sort of 'doughy'. Some people like that but it doesn't do much for me
If you're easily afflicted by nicotine levels, stay the hell away from Nick and Johnny and Skruf Stark. Those will knock you out. They taste great but they're so rich in nicotine.

I am a big Roda Lacket loose fan. Mind you, I have little experience with other loose snus, but the RL is so aromatic and tasty, to me, it is my constant companion along with Ettan.

I'll put Roda Locket in the queue for my next order. I figured out how to get a lot more flavor though.

I'm discovering that Snus has the option to 'go dry' (and just don't meddle with it and not get any saliva production (yay) and little flavor) or to meddle with it some and allow it to get a little juicy and also more flavor from it. If I don't mind spitting or swallowing the juices I can enjoy the flavor from my portions quite a bit. In addition to General, Onyx also reminds me of the wonderfully complex aroma of my friends nasal snuff. I think I might be used to that type of rich and complex flavor from my cigar smoking experiences too.

Someone on here mentioned the medicinal properties of nicotine helping with their digestive system, I am also finding that I get the same benefits. Regardless of the pure pleasure factor, this is also good medicine for me. I've been noticing it helping a lot, something I noticed from my cigar smoking / other experiences as well, but that was so inconvenient I couldn't really enjoy that in the morning before work, for example. It is also a good mood enhancer.

Totally right about the digestive tonic effect of nicotine/tobacco. Makes ulcers and irritable guts and inflammation disappear.

I really don't think you can go wrong with general. It's absolutely my go-to portion now. Funny really, I used to smoke menthols when I smoked cigarettes but I like the pure tobacco tastes of general and lucky strike.
