Anyone else think snus tastes better after the tin has been open for a few days or do I have noob taste buds?
Letting snus breathe?

I prefer moist snus. This new batch of coffe/van is really moist and somewhat bitter than all the other batchs. If I leave a sealed tin out for a week or so it mellows out somewhat and tastes better. But I have to put 2 drops of coffee on each portion to get it back to the moisture level I prefer. I was pretty disappointed untill I figured out what to do.
All the previous batches were from Getsnus and were perfect. As a result I'm starting to think they don't keep their stock chilled. Apparently thats fine for the coffe/van [and my preferance] but surely not for other brands of snus.
I have 6 rolls of coffe/van in my freezer with a best by date of 12-5-09 that I got from getsnus and they are great, much better than the new batch.
The remaining 10 rolls from the new batch will probably age and get better. But being in the freezer it may take awhiile. As a result I bet they will last several years and end up being perfect. So I ain't complaining.
Glad I figured out how to fix the new ones.
This makes a big difference in the taste.............for me, anyway.Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......
I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I will air my snus out for 30 mins if their is a strong ammonia smell.

Aha
same,
I got 2 of those snus starter kits that came with 16 different brands. I was like a kid in a candy store
shoved endless portions in my lip in a very short space of time, then felt completely wired. It was then i read the booklet that came with the kits that suggested if you were going try a lot of the them only use them for a minute each, woops.Snus and Dip Video Reviews

Getting this thread back on track and answering the original question. No redheadedmax, it is not your Noob tastes. I have found over the years that some snus tastes better if left out a few days before use, some significantly better. Phantom Brown is the best one I remember. hated it when first used, but someone PM'd me that suggestion to just let them sit for 3 days. A completely and so much better to me snus after I let them air.
So again, some of us may react differently, haven't found it true with many snus. But the ones it is??? Yes, big difference.
