    Question about Julesnus

Just ordered a can of the Gotlanddus Green portions. I'm interested in trying the Julesnus, doubly so because it's only available for a limited time. I was going to throw a can on my next order..but..

I don't use alcohol or other drugs (except nicotine & caffeine ). I don't use alcoholic mouthwash or eat those fancy rum-soaked desserts. I have no interest in trying the Whiskey Probe. The Julesnus was described as having tastes of spiced candies and spiced rum.. Is it very noticeable, would it be a problem for me? I can't stand any alcohol taste, but I'm very curious..

    Any advice?

I'm enjoying my second prilla of it and I can't detect an alcohol aroma, but the spices resemble some alcoholic specialities (I don't know spiced rum, but the taste of mulled wine is clearly noticeable, to be more precise it's the taste of the German christmas delicacy "Glühwein", and "Melissengeist", the latter mostly used as a traditional medication).

Overall it tastes a bit like a christmas-version of Göteborgs Rapé, really classy. It's certainly a MUST-TRY-brand, but that's just my opinion.

    Cheers!

Glühwein is good, in DK we call it 'gløgg' ... I did suspect the Julesnus to be in that direction. Sadly I missed it last Christmas - guess I was too slow - but this year I'm gonna make it

I said that it smells of the spices IN spiced candies or rum. No alcohol flavor in the snus, sorry for that confusion.

Got it! Thanks for the clarification. I'll put a tin of the loose on my next order, sounds like a nice holiday treat!

I'll have to agree with Chainsnusser. It's a Christmas version of Goteborgs Rape. I find it very enjoyable.

Probe doesn't have an alcoholic taste either, just a pleasant sweetness. It is one of my favourites and if you like julesnus you might want to give probe a go.

Just out of curiosity Sacrilicious, why don't you use alcoholic mouthwash? Is the taste of alcohol repellent to you, or is it for some other reason. Please forgive me if I am being rude, and feel free to ignore my question if it's something personal.

                  Aloha

                    Smarvy:

Full disclosure: I used to be a bit of a heavy drinker. I gave it up about six years ago for health reasons. So I try to avoid things that contain alcohol or taste like them. I use natural mouthwash also because it doesn't have the saccharine and stuff that Listerine has in it. Can't stand that stuff.

Thanks for the advice, guys! I'll put some Christmassnus on my next order. Is there much of a difference between loose and portions? I use both, but I'm leaning toward the loose on this one, just because it's something I might enjoy more at home.. What do you think?

The loose is better in my opinion but both are tasty.

I just got my tin of Julessnus today, and it being the holidays it was the first snus I tried. I like it very much, it has a nice complex spice flavor, with a strong and unique background snus flavor. I assume that this must be the Gotlands base that I taste, but so far the only one I have tried is the Julessnus. I like it very much!

The thing I did not enjoy about it, and I think this is just a Gottland thing, the can sucks. Little plastic thing with a non sealed lid. It was kind of dried out when it got to me. Did not appreciate that.

But I still am enjoying the flavor. I'll savor this can and then wait till next year for more, but I don't think I'll be getting anymore Gotland other than that.

There a very few snus tins that are sealed. Just Lucky Strike and I think Roots. I have never received a dried out tin of Gotlands but yea all the tins are about the same.
