hopefully i can place one last order before this takes effect... then it'll be one can of general per week from the local shop. until i get sick of general or paying 6$ for a tin of tobacco.

I only use about a can a week anyway, so as long as I can get it, and its not absolutely insanely priced, Ill be happy.

$5-$6 a week is still wwaaaaaaayyyy cheaper than smoking was!

But if its like $7-$10, thats another story, knowing where all that money is going...

im not paying any more for snus. since my girlfriend started snusing too, its been kind of hard to afford the orders for both of us as it is. i have a decent stock going right now, but i think ill place a quick order for probably just a roll od ld los, ld portion, and maybe a couple more things, and just use till i get down to so many cans and wean myself off gradually.

As of right now, the closest place I can buy real Swedish snus is 3 hours away in San Jose, Ca, or 3 hours away in the other direction to Sacramento, Ca.

Looking really bad for me.... :x :?
I am no expert on the PACT act, but from what I understand it will not make it illegal to buy on-line. You'll just have to go through the age verification thing and pay the taxes, both state and feds.

Someone else mentioned that we'll just have to be a bit patient and see how it plays out. Could very likely not be the end of the world and we may well have a full choice of flavors. Hopefully with the distributors on the forum we can get a heads up on what's really going on, as opposed to wild speculation.

Getting off nicotine is not an option for me. Tried that and it's a lost cause. I'll pay the piper and try not to take it to personal.
Exactly stubby2, what I have been trying to say for a long, long time now.

I'd place as many big orders as you're able to, for as long as you're able to. Seriously, if you're gonna stick with snus, how many investments pay 30%+ dividends? Snus is your best bet for making money in this economy ;^)

I'd also like to know if anyone has any idea when this might take effect. I have about 150 tins of coffe/van now but another 50 tins [and maybe a SnusX bucket] in my freezer wouldn't hurt. Then I should be good for several years.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

60 days after the prez signs the bill. That might be skirted for a little while, especially from the small secondary sellers while everybody gets in the new oppression groove. I wouldn't expect to get anything this time next year.

I've never stopped stocking up for a year now
From what I just read, we have 90 days, gulp
I placed an order last night and getting together my last order  now

I'm going to miss ordering snus. I always did the happy dance when my orders arrived, even with a freezer full of snus. Dam*t this sux A**

Wait a sec! I am a bit stressed now as well but the House still has to vote on the Senate version of the Pact Act and the President needs to sign it. I have a feeling that they are pushing this bill but it still may take another 2-3 months before it is complete. We have three warnings and we are on the first warning now. No reason to panic but a good reason to start building up a stash. Sage, I am sure that there were people saying "relax, it's unsinkable" when the Titanic was sinking. This bill will severely limit our ability to get snus especially certain brands. You are probably not worried because you enjoy smoking a pipe and can get pipe tobacco anywhere but snus is a different matter and I don't want to smoke.

I think Sage is suffering serious denial. Which I don't understand, at all.
                        Ah Titanic, very good analogy.

I had a breakdown a few months back. After 8 months smoke free. I was very stressed and started smoking a couple a day. I didn't beat myself up about it, I just added some sterks and I'm good again. So obviously I NEED my snus

There is nothing in the bill that will severely limit our ability to get any brand of snus. From my understanding the on-line retailers will have to sign a contract with a currier to distribute the goods. Both UPS and Fed Ex have age verification systems already in place. Taxes will be paid at the point of sale. The retailers will have to set up a system for dealing with 50 different tax rates for the states. That's not as bad as it sounds. I was in touch with an IT manager on a different forum who does that kind of thing for a living. It's an inconvenience for the retailers but basically it's just paper shoveling. Once the computer program is set up its pretty much automatic.

Having said that, I certainly will be doing some stocking up but I'm not going to panic. The critical point will be the retailers setting up a contract with a currier. Once that is done we're home free (once the taxes are paid).

I'm sure there won't be any problem actually getting snus. I'm just a cheap ass and don't want to pay any taxes if I don't have to. I think that anymore than say a 2.5 year supply in my freezer is probably too much tho. After 2 years I'm pretty sure more than several varieties of snus should be available in retail stores......or at least they should be able to order what you want. However, there will be the tax.
