One of the reasons I'm going back to RYO portions using loose snus. 45 grams verses 24 with only a slight increase in Fed tax. Will cut my price nearly in half.

Looks like the highest of those states that charge a % of wholesale/manufacturers' costs. Probably not as bad as the few states that charge exorbitant taxes per ounce though. Just curious, what are you using for you portion material for your RYO portions??
Lipton 100% natural tea. It isn't the heat sealed type so I cut off the top end which is put together with a staple, empty the tea and there is one seam to cut. The whole thing lays out flat and I can get 8 portion size sheets from one tea bag. Walmart sells the stuff for under $3.00 for a box of 100, so 800 portions per box.

I did it for a few months this summer and liked it. Taste better then the portions, more comfortable, and could make them to any size or shape I wanted. Got kind of lazy and went back to portions. With the big hit I'll take with WI taxes it will be well worth it to get back into it, and I already am.

WI taxes are not based on weight but price so it makes sense to go with loose. In those states that go by weight, not so much.

I will certainly keep that in mind. I definitely owe something back to this fine community that has helped me out along my journey of the wonderful discovery of snus!

So do you just fold it up and stick it in your mouth or do you seal it somehow?

Yeah. Good film. Anyone who values either justice or liberty is foolish to believe that the GOP is on their side. I voted for Obama because the Dems are marginally better with issues like unions, social safety nets, imperial foreign invasions, the environment and wars against entheogens. It's a trade-off, because the progressives do all this nanny state shit too, just on a slightly different level.

But this isn't about right vs. left sides of an aisle, an aisle which mainly exists only to foster the illusion that Amerika has a functioning democratic process. This is about elitist corporate oligarchs and social engineers trampling upon the rights of ordinary people. But there is nothing new under the sun, and blind, senseless tyranny is one of the oldest stories in the world. Because people tend to find what they seek, it's power freaks who invariably end up in control, and thus the planet continues to be raped & pillaged by the dull and the corrupt. As Kurt Vonnegut would say: "So it goes."

Because I get viscerally angry whenever I think about this snus business, I try not to think about it too much. I've been slowly stocking up for the last year and a half, which will hopefully give me some time to adjust to how the brave new world of tobacco control shakes out.

There's a really cool book called Cigarettes Are Sublime by Richard Klein that I highly recommend. One of the things he explores in some detail is how, historically, political pogroms against tobacco are virtually always merely a tactic in the much larger assault against human dignity and freedom.

It's time for the 4th Reich & Roll y'all. Better get some go-go shoes and learn the new dance....

That's right, I just fold it. My usual method is to fold the long ends towards the middle and then fold the short ends to seal the ends. Snus is moist so it kind of self seals. Well... not completely but close enough. I just put it in and leave it alone. If you like to move the snus around a lot you'll likely get in trouble as there's a good chance it will fall apart.

It does help a good deal to bake it. In the beginning I was using an ice tool but am now hand baking as it gives me better control over the shape. If you don't bake it you just get a bunch of crumbs all over the place. Much easier to roll (fold) it when it's shaped and baked the way you want it to start with.
