New Brands, Old Brands, Changing Brands....

    Greetings-

I'm a rather new snuser, but nonetheless have been familiar with snus for several years. It's been awhile since i've ordered snus on-line (which is likely the only way to get it where I am in Southeastern Michigan USA), and i've noticed that the usual brands I got in the past have disappeared, or changed names, and then subsequently disappeared.

I was big on Kicks Lime, getting several rolls of it earlier this year, and just recently running out. Ditto CatchDry Coffee Vanilla.

Both seem to be gone. Is it common for snus flavors/brands to constantly be on the change? Can anyone recommend replacement or similar brands to these 2? Thanks in advance!

    Cheers,

    Erik

Kicks is now called Roots and they only have kept three flavours from the old line - original, berry, and wintergreen. It does look like the Lime is no more, as is the Catch coffee/vanilla. It's not usual for most snus brands to be on the change, but it seems that you picked highly experimental snuses to make your favourites. I don't think either fared well in the market at all, hence getting the sack.

Hmm, I could be wrong but I thought Kicks and Roots were the loose and portion varieties of the same snus.
But yeah, "newer" brands are coming and going at breakneck speed to accommodate new users discovering snus.

Erik, it seems you are into the flavoured snuses. and you are lucky because the range of available flavours varies and expands all the time. I can recommend the Catch snus brand flavours, the eucalyptus works well for me. The one I suggest caution with is Wise - very dry and dusty and seemingly full of bubble gum aspartame fake flavour. I can tolerate their citrus menthol flavour, but their original portions are a struggle, full of fake-tasting licorice. Sadly, I have 4 cans to work through. Their only advantage is that they do not require any refrigeration. You can try the more standard snus types too, Goteborgs Rape and General and Roda Lacket are flavourful in a more traditional tobacco-type way.

In my limited experience, yes. Unless you're talking about mainstream, huge snus brands like General/Ettan/etc. Mini portions seem particularly likely to get cut, but that's because I think I'm the only customer that likes them. Flavored brands are also more likely to get dropped, probably because they just don't sell as well.

A good rule of thumb to follow is this: Whenever you see me post that I've settled on a brand, it's guaranteed to be discontinued within four weeks.

          - Jeff

They sell the Lime and Licorice Loose still. I never got to try the Catch coffee and vanilla but offroad has a limited edition coffee flavor. I have had it and thought it was pretty bad, although I don't like sweet flavors.

Here's the Roots Lime and Licorice (loose):

As for coffee, besides offroad, I found this, "XQ's" (though haven't heard anybody say anything about the brand at all):

I'd like to add to the notion of liking flavored snus, try out Mocca, they are of great quality.
