There's no way this won't be a hatchet job. It would be completely out of character if it were not. Still maybe its true that sometimes there's no such thing as bad publicity.

Appears as if they added the clip in of her saying "Yeah but it's a DEADLY cancer". It didn't look like that was live during the interview.

Looks pretty friggin' pro-snus to me though.

They still deamonize it and by calling it a fix until you get your next cig and encouraging dual use along w/ cigarettes. Your still addicted MANNNNNNNNNNNNN.

I don't like this dissolve-able business. And I think they shouldn't have made it look like such an evil thing but they did state the facts. It would've been more positive if it were strictly factual but the way they posed the views was irritating. I guess there's two sides to every coin.

To what extent do you think this piece ran in conjunction w/ PACT? Get the law in place then promote the product and collect all the more taxes. You know it'll get a lot more exposure now. People are going to try it just like they would a new restaurant opening. They didn't waste any time in this department.

I just watched this, and it was... eh, OK. They did mention Sweden, they did mention harm reduction, they did mention snus being 90 to 99% less bad than ciggs. The only bad, was their snus "poster boy", who snuses all day, AND smokes 20 cigs a day.... uh... and the anti tobacco extremist, who is just anti anything tobacco, and thinks snus will just make people smoke and snus, and how Camel orbs are made for children. But, apart from the nutty smoker and snuser, and the anti fanatic, it did present some good info.

Overall it was pretty positive. Even with their 'average American snuser' being a less than perfect example, I think it was the Swedish Doctor people will remember.

I bet there are a lot of chronic smokers googling Swedish snus right now. As it was 60 minutes most of them are over 50 though.

Wow - a lot of the snus retailer sites like Northerner and slow to load right now. I am betting that the 60 Minutes piece is giving snus it's 10 seconds of fame right now and the retailers are swamped.

I really did not see the Smoking and Snussing part coming, serious nicotine jones! But rather fair otherwise, better presented than I thought, ditto to the hits on the site increasing! I quit with Snus, and I am glad I did, I feel so much better, Still an addict though.

Overall I would say it was a pretty good piece. The dual user guy didn't really help the image of nicotine users however. I watched it with my wife, who knows little to nothing about snus, even though I have been using it for 2 years now. I have told her of the benefits of snus over smoking, I am hoping that seeing it on TV legititamizes it her mind now. The anti-tobacco lady from Indiana is a nazi-cow. Snus on !

It did mention somewhere how Camel snus is just to get you to when you can smoke, or something like that, maybe the tobacco nazi said it, well, I do think that's the intention with Camel and Marlboro snus.

Looks like a few people took notice of the 60 minutes piece! All in all, it wasn't as bad as I expected, aside from the emphasis on "dual use" of tobacco products. I guess I really can't say much about that since I switched from dip to snus, so at least the habit of using tobacco in your lip doesn't change when you make the switch. I did appreciate the fact that they interviewed somebody with expertise in the area, and it really seemed that he knew how to put the correct spin on the questions they were asking.

As for the snuser they interviewed, somebody should send him a roll of TF and we'll see how long he craves another cigarette :P

They showed absolutely NO women buying or using snus. Poop on 60 minutes!!! The only good part of this segment was the older swedish gentleman, a doctor??? His responses were the most informative & intelligent, plus, I love the accent.

I wish they had differentiated Swedish snus from American snus. They mad it look like they were one in the same. For Americans it's just gonna be something to tide you over until the next smoke. There's no way you could ever quite smoking with that Camel garbage.
