It was ok. My main 2 issues with the segment (both already mentioned here) are:

    1. If they were going to use nicotine boy, they also should have featured someone who has given up the cigs and only uses snus.

    2. That lady was so ignorant. To her, nothing outside the US exists. She kept saying "We don't know what that stuff will do to you". Lady, you have 200 years of data to look at over in Sweden. Does that merit any credit whatsoever? Nooooooo. Ignorant, as I expected.

Just got to watch it this morning. I think it was a fair piece. One question about oral cancer was refuted. A couple questions about pancreatic cancer were answered honestly.

The only negative was the smoke when you can, snus when you can't bit. Unfortunately that is how RJR is marketing snus in the US. Unfortunate, but honest.

I agree but you know the media if it wasn't one sided and to the extreme no one would watch it. Just check out your local news station - murders, burglaries, assaults, car accidents… Stay tuned… This guy was clearly a buffoon hamming it up for the cameras and reporters.

I don't smoke at all but I enjoy both snus and nasal snuff. Bought my first can of snus while in Sweden on April 2001.

          60 Minutes

I really wish they had talked to someone other than that one guy with the cheesy mustache who still smoked. You would think that with all the articulate intelligent people just on this forum alone they could have found someone who quit smoking and praises snus for helping them quit. Also if anyone is going to be an anti tobacco spokesperson they should get someone who is the picture of health not a little squat woman who needs to lose 50 ponds and will probaly die sooner than any of us from her clogged arteries.

I am sure they hunted and found that guy on purpose, because he was an extreme example, that people could equate critial view of snus with. I have never met anyone that smokes a pack of ciggs a day and uses 10 snus portions. I guess some exist, if this guy is a real deal, he could have been made up for the show. But I don't believe he's a common example of a snus user. But I'll take him over faceless shadows and distorted voices of teens saying how they use it in school, which is amazing they didn't have knowing the anti-bent of our hype fueled media.

Karla Sneegas is the executive director of a state anti-tobacco agency. If it's made from tobacco, even if it's a product with beneficial attributes, it must be damned back to hell. Don't research. Don't seek knowledge. Just spew hate and damnation and keep your government job.

EDIT: Hmmm. Anybody try snuff on a cheese omlette?

Mohave bro, your signature rocks and I am stealing it for use in another forum. That just happened.

Won't someone please think of the children? Ban DHMO today!

I was pleasantly surprised at the positive spin, but disappointed that they selected such a douchebag to represent the "typical" snus user as if we're all nicotine abusers.

I was impressed that they showed both sides, the difference being ours was supported by clinical data produced from real scientific studies. The other side was supported by two fat and stumpy legs...I assume, because I couldn't see under that tent she was wearing. She was typical of the hate all tobacco crowd though, and it was good to uncover the fact that the "hate tobacco crowd" has no real evidence to support their ridiculous claims.

Hopefully it will raise awareness of the differences between real Swedish snus and the American garbage being peddled by RJR and PM. And have any of you EVER brushed your teeth with a portion in......LMAO, didn't think so...

EDIT: people on this forum should go over to the CBS site and post comments, just my opinion. Thanks ICE for posting info about the forum at CBS,as myself and others have done...it makes it easier for people with questions to find the right answers! Thanks again.

I am honored. The last convert I won over to the anti-DHMO cause said he was deeply concerned about the horrible atrocity of any of it getting into his single-malt Scotch.

I first learned of snus while in high school (Triumph). Wish I would have started then. Snusing in high school would have been awesome.

I could not take the bull shit I was watching. Others might have posted there but I did not see anything on the main page showing all of yesterdays episode, so I decided to post the following:

                              http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?...in;contentBody

"I needed to post since I see a lot of nonsense being posted. I started using snus three years ago. Many years before the U.S. tobacco companies started using their "propaganda" to promote snus. I have looked at the studies and believe that snus is a much safer product. It is safer for the following reasons 1) whenever you smoke anything, be it plastic, paper, or tobacco you are creating many compounds by burning whatever you are inhaling, some of them are carcinogenic 2) domestic tobacco is fermented, which will create some carcinogenic compounds as well but not nearly as many as smoking 3) snus is steam treated, not fermented, which does not create many of these harmful compounds 4) many of the harmful compounds that affect the circulatory and respiratory system are never introduced into the body using snus because they are never created. The guy that smokes and uses snus is in the minority. Many people use snus to quit smoking and are successful. To compare dissolvable nicotine products to candy is not fair because there is something called nicotine gum which, to no big surprise...looks like gum that kids would gobble up just as fast as dissolvable nicotine. So why not harm reduction that will increase the life enjoyment and life span of so many people? I think that people need to wake up and see that harm reduction is the best alternative than just quitting tobacco altogether. Can we embrace this great alternative or shall we continue to stick our heads in the sand? "
