Aaah yeah. I didn't spot he was using General Minis. Well - he's genuine then.
Looks like the poor barsteward is a genuine 24 carat weirdo.
If I were using minis - I'd need to have one in whilst brushing my teeth.

That guy is probably familiar with this website, if he's so into Snus (or other forms of tobacco).

      Out yourself! =.D

True. It's pretty hard to look for any information on snus without coming across snuson.com.

Well, the "dual user", I don't think was ever presented as someone who wanted to quit smoking. I mean, maybe he never wants to quit smoking, or at this time anyway, and he just added snus to when he can't smoke. Now we thought it odd to do both, esp since he smokes a pack a day, if that's true, but some people smoke 2-3 packs a day, though I could never see how anyone did that.

Jackie Gleason smoked 6 packs per day, and Yul Brenner smoked something like 8 per day :^O

Geesh. Yeah, I've known one or two people who said they smoked 5, 7 packs a day. Hard to believe, but I guess it's certainly doable if you just have one going all the time. Myself, I was a two-pack-a-day smoker easy, although toward the end I was trying to push that down to a pack. I probably became a pack-and-a-half to two-pack guy. At my worst, I was most likely at times pushing three.

I know I still fool around with smoking, and it probably isn't smart, but these days I really prefer breathing. It is much, much, muchmuch better. Much.

I have mixed feelings about it. I give them props that they actually showed a perspective that snus is much safer than cigarettes, HOWEVER, they stilllll set it up to make snus look bad in my opinion.

They start off with the interview showing a guy who never quit smoking with snus. He is a duel user smoking a pack of cigs a day and snusing half a can. That in itself is not a good thing to show. Its showing that people are going to use both. And of course at the end they show american anti tobacco groups telling people their concerns about duel use lol.

but still im glad they gave some good information which is not typical for the news on tobacco

Well, people do use various tobacco items. Many people dip and chew, and smoke, and use nasal snuff. Usually not all at once. And while I don't smoke myself, I will snus, and use nasal snuff together, and I'll also dip/chew. So, I do think the show slanted, and kinda sorta put out the idea snus can replace cigs, which it can, but so can dip/chew and nasal snuff, but that doesn't mean it all has to be one must only use one item exclusivley.

Yeah I agree there will be people who use both or everything, but the fact that they CHOSE HIM to introduce snus is something I didnt like. Lets face it, a majority of people who are smokers in the US who are going into snus are probably doing so to quit smoking, not to use both. I would say that would be the average. So why show a guy whos not even interested in quitting smoking. Why not show someone who actually quit using snus?

As far as im concerned they showed a guy who is doing double the damage to himself, snus is not really helping that guy if hes still smoking a whole pack of cigs a day. and of course at the end of the video what do the anti tobacco people say?? Oh snus sucks because people will probably use both .

I have no idea how someone could smoke 7 packs of cigs a day and be anywhere near healthy. I was a 17 cigarettes a day smoker and I didn't feel great doing that. How do you smoke 140 FFS? WTF?

I Extra Stark and feel a million dollars - I now snuff as well.....and for some reason I feel even better for doing snuff.

Wild horses wouldn't get me back to lit tobacco. The wonders of the snus and snuff world are truly amazing and extremely pleasurable in comparison to the unhealthy and stinky world of smoked.
Yes - I would say that snus and snuff are healthy and that's from experience - the way I feel tells me.
                      More beer..............

[quote="Paladinx"] Why not show someone who actually quit using snus?

Because that would not square with the media's default attitude that tobacco in any form whatsoever just has to be bad for you--period. 60 minutes went about as far as they could grudgingly manage when they aired a few comments that snus could be useful in quitting but only as an absolute last resort for utterly irreconcilable nicotine addicts. Not exactly what you'd call a ringing endorsement but it must have pained them mightily to give even that much ground. I had zero expectations that the piece would present snus in its true, safe, and effective light.

Some of the online only segments were a bit better but only a bit. I'd be willing to bet that footage was in the can that painted a much more salutary picture of snus but no way was that going to make it into the aired piece.

Leslie Stahl is a perfect example of the typical big media mindset. She was clearly shocked and a bit befuddled that anyone not a paid shill for one of the tobacco companies would ever recommend any form of tobacco for any useful or effective purpose.

Still quite a few members of the viewing audience have made their way into these snusy precincts as a result of the piece so perhaps we should thank them in the same backhanded way we can thank RJR for marketing weak junk near-snus that has driven thousands into the comforting arms of the real Swedish deal.

I just got around to watching it. To my surprise, I thought it was a rather positive piece. I hope anybody who watched it would put more faith in a prize winning cancer researcher than an overweight bureaucrat from
                          Indiana .

She may be in line for a Double Down right now.

If you haven't heard, KFC is killing people nationwide as we speak with the double down. Its a bacon and cheese sandwhich, except the bread is 2 pieces of fried boneless chicken breast. LOL.
