Sorry, this might be a dumb question. But I'm flying to Vancouver through Seattle from Denmark. And I just want to make sure that it's legal to bring a bit of snus with me?

If you are flying on a single ticket (Air France/Delta via Paris/Seattle?) then don't worry about US customs. You will not need to clear US customs if you are just changing planes. If you are changing *tickets* and need to collect luggage then check in separately for Alaska Airlines or Air Canada, then you will need to clear customs. Either way you will be fine bringing snus, just don't bring more than a roll.

Heads up, in case anyone hasn't noticed, the Canadian Excise tax for snus has gone up INSANELY.

Manufactured tobacco (Canadian or imported) for the regular domestic market, per 50 grams or fraction thereof.
            WAS : $2.8925 NEW : $5.3125
Price per tin (ie: package 50g or less) has almost doubled. I just bought two rolls plus six tins (26 total) and my tax bill was $183!

            Change was as-of March 2013 : http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pub/em/edn33/edn33-e.html

You'd declare it somewhere on your tax form.

Our lovely liberals have enacted a $1.60 increase recently to fix the state budget. Smokes, Snus dip ect..
                  Good luck control freaks.

Well at some point something in Georgia changed. Now Northerner won't ship to me and the station like 1/4 mile from me may stop carrying snus. God I don't want to start dipping again, or smoking for that matter.

Got caught one time with a bunch of pipe tobacco and a briar pipe. They even taxed the pipe...

But, for what I'm aware of, Excise tax is only when you order or import, (don't know a thing when it come to export), over the permitted amount of tobacco for personal use. Say over a cartoon of cigarettes, you have to pay Excise Tax. That's why I only order un small amount of can at a time, say between 5 to 8 cans. Plus, the packaging is smaller, so less tend to end in a duty officer hands. But if I'm wrong on all the line, please correcte me.
For my part it worked well for me, most of the time with small packages I don't pay taxes at all. A lot of saved money, here a can of copenhagen is 26$... and I do prefer snus.
