Why oh why must we lose this stuff?

    LD Original Portions

Have my first portion of this in right now. This stuff is good. Dare I say excellent. It's straight tobacco without the bitterness of Grov and a little more salt. What a stupid decision by JTI to not have any interest in playing ball in the US. This would have been a by-the-roll buy for me.

I am a bit curious about that myself after confirming that Granit will no longer be available in the US. Snus already has been approved as a food by the Swedish government. Can the FDA requirements be that tough? I am also wondering if it is a matter of certain companies not wanting to expand for whatever reason and increasing sales isn't a priority for them right now. The USA is a huge market though and you can bet that tobacco companies will be beating a path to our door if snus becomes more popular here.

Why do you think I bought 3 rolls (and counting) of this stuff? It's just about my favorite.

I tried the white, and its not really to my tastes. I haven't tried the original or loose, because I don't really want to get attached.

The lös is great, in my top 5 in fact. I'm getting a couple more rolls, and I'll just hope I can get more when they're gone. I alternate LD with Gotland Gul, so it should last a good while.

Yep, that's it. As I get further into this can it's pretty obvious what I must do. I must purchase every can of LD I possibly can before it's too late. I'd like to try the los as well, which I'm sure is excellent, lxskllr.

I get paid this coming up Thursday. I'll probably pick up 2 rolls. 1 White, and 1 OP. My goal is AT LEAST 60-70 cans before June.

Guys...Clarification...LD White isn't going anywhere. Just may not be available form Northerner as Northerner is transforming itself into an American company and thus falls under FDA review and control. Just buy it from Buysnus.

You sure about that Sage? I'm not taking any chances with this either, and ordering rolls of it. This is the best tasting snus besides Camel White I've ever had.

Yes. Situation with LD and others. To sell IN the US soon, must meet new FDA rules, which includes providing FDA with a list of ingredients, which it appears that a few smaller companies won't do. Again, this has NOTHING to do with PACT, but earlier legislation granting FDA control over tobacco.

So, LD and a few others may not be allowed to be sold in the US, but that is all. FDA has no power over what is privately imported. But since Northerner is now becoming a US based operation, THEY can not sell anything not approved by the FDA, which led to Frank's comments starting all this concern about LD

So buy from Buysnus, or even any of the other Northerner branded sites still operating out of Sweden and you should have no problems.

Now.... and I suppose a big if.......

IF I am wrong and PACT so screws up things so you are ONLY able to get snus at retail, then of course, no, you would not be able to get LD. I really don't see this as happening, so I don't think this is a real concern. But you disagree with me there, then make whatever choices you deem appropriate. Fortunately for me, I have made the most bizarre switch, something I would have told you a year ago never would happen, I ONLY use Swedish Match snus now. So not really stressing anything

Why are brands like Granit, LD, and Taboca getting banned from USA sale? These trademarks are not owned by American companies, and they certainly don't have alluring "lollipop" flavorants or packaging. In fact, my little brother smelled Granit and almost puked.

^They are not really being banned, they are just not registering their products with the FDA, which might make it trickier to get a hold of them. Probably not impossible at all, but trickier.

Be that as it may, I'm not taking any chances. Even so, it is a hell of a lot cheaper buying it now, then in two months.
