That's funny, I could have sworn buysnus sent me an email saying that there wouldn't be any Kardus superior blend produced this year........

Swedish Post is back
We have now during two weeks shipped with Swiss post instead of the Swedish post. Swiss post promised better handling and precision. The evaluation period has now ended and we are back with the Swedish post to evaluate Swiss post. Have you got your order delivered with Swiss post? If so how was it? Do you prefer Swiss post instead of the Swedish post? Please tell us, we will take everything in consideration.
Kardus Superior Blend
There will unfortunately NOT be any Kardus Superior Blend this year, the producer have decided not to produce them. There is on the other hand a new snus from the producer V2 Tobacco that is cut instead of grained the same way as Kardus, the brand is Offroad Long Cut.

I just got my Kardus today. I unfortunately ate at Taco Bell before trying the snus, so my mouth was polluted, and it's hard to taste. The box is impressive. It's 4"^3, and has Kardus 2007 stamped on the bottom, smells nice also. I'll try to give a better description of the snus flavor later, when my palate's clear.

No, no tools :^(. It comes in a 4"^3 walnut box, that smells like linseed oil, French polish I believe that is. There's a large whole drilled in the middle on the inside where a large plastic tub containing the snus sits. The tub is sealed with a paper strip on the top, with the packer's initials hand printed in the center. Also on the lid of the box, there's 4 metal studs at the corners that fit into holes drilled in the corners of the base, which holds the lid in place.
I'll give a review of the snus a bit later, I just ate dinner, and want to clear my palate first(sheesh, always eating....:^P). Some quick impressions so far:
Very coarse cut. It doesn't really bake per se, but it seems to lock together very tightly. When I first put it in my lip, I was able to pull the whole pris down with my tongue, and reposition it without it coming apart.
It's the mildest snus I've ever had, hence the need to clean my palate. It's very light, and somewhat grassy. I'll need to try some more to see what else it has going on.
I'm very happy with my purchase, and fully intend to get next years if possible. It's a bit of money, but worth it to me for the limited nature of the snus, and the impeccable packaging.
Oh, one other thing... I got my IceTool(Buysnus branded) today also. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but it's very well made, and has a nice solid feel. I'm looking forward to using it tomorrow, with my morning Landströms :^)

Ok, here's my impressions of Kardus. Keep in mind that I'm not the best taster, so a food , or wine connoisseur will probably find all kinds of things in there that I don't taste ;^)
Texture:
This is very coarse, kind of like an American long cut dip, though I'm going from a distant memory in that regard. It sort of "bakes" up tight, though there's little fingers of tobacco that stick out when you're finished. It doesn't leave a wet mess in your hand when finished. Just a small wet spot, and almost no waste tobacco left, very clean. I've found I need to keep the pris on the smaller side because the coarse cut hurts my gums a tad when I have too much in. Once it's under your lip, it can take a lot of poking/prodding, and even pulling the whole thing down to suck on a little :^O. I get the occasional little pieces, that fall, but nothing like normally ground snus. The only way this would go to mud, is if you left it in long enough for your saliva to dissolve it.
Flavor:
This is the part I have the hardest time with. The flavors are quite subtle, and I'm not sure I have the taste buds to describe what I'm getting. The flavor's very light, and closest to Landströms in my very limited lös snus experience. I would say the predominate flavor is grass, with a light, pleasant bitterness going beneath that. There's a hint of vanilla, and I thought I tasted butterscotch when I first put it in, but that may have been leftover flavor from my hazelnut coffee soda :^P. It's very light on the salt, which is good because the flavor would be overpowered if it had the typical Swedish salt load. Chewing on little pieces that have been in awhile give a cigar like flavor, with a nice non-synthetic smokiness, while sucking on the whole pris gives an almost bready taste(hard to describe).
I'm very happy with this overall, though I don't think I'd buy rolls of it if it were available more cheaply. This would be an occasional buy, for when I wanted something a little different from the typical snus. The thing I like best, is the completely natural taste, That's devoid of overpowering flavors. This would be a good snus for a dry red wine, or perhaps a dry sherry, and of course coffee. I think I'd stay away from espresso though, because I think it would stomp all over the snus' flavor.
If I were to make a buying recommendation, I would suggest getting 1 can of this snus. It's quite different from any other snus out there, and even if you loved it, having too much could ruin the special nature of this product. It's always better to be left wanting more, that fall into a routine of having just another snus. I'm quite happy with the can I got, and I'm very much looking forward to trying next years blend.

Kardus
Good review I think I'll order some. I did read it was like longcut which interested me. Long cut in the upper lip doest not give you lots of taste since you dont get as much saliva to get it out. So try the lower lip. Put it deep to avoid to much poking with your tung and avoid small chard cutting in your gum as you push it down.
Thanks for the review

I bought some Kardus and opened it yesterday. The snus itself seems to me to be virtually identical to the 'normal' Kardus that was on sale till a few months ago. But going from my memory of the tin variety, the new one has a bit of a darker, deeper flavour. More smoky.
The packaging this time around is wonderful IMO, a really simple yet elegant piece of design.
Yes it's overpriced, but I don't regret buying it at all, because it's one of those special things that punctuates life, a bit like a Cuban cigar. It's worth is subjective and depends entirely on what the individual gets out of it, and to me that means it's worthwhile.
