    Keeping Inventory

So I recieved my first order a little over a week ago, and have placed several more orders as I am trying out different strengths, flavors, etc of snus. Last night I was looking through some of the sites and couldn't remember what I already had and what I had ordered so the Geek in me took over and I ended up creating a sreadsheet to track my snus based on what I have opened in the fridge, what I have in my freezer and what is in an existing order being shipped.

Does anybody else keep track in a similar fashion or am I the biggest geek in the snus community?

I've been keeping a spreadsheet for sometime myself NJ. If that makes us geeks, oh well.
Separate worksheets for snus, snuff and one for the approx. weight totals of the snuff I have.

The worksheet for snus has columns for what's open, whats in the freezer and what's on order.

I think there was a thread similar to this a while pack in regards to spreadsheet type organization. Or maybe that was a "Used/liked/to be liked/never used/place order" kinda spreadsheet. They were awfully fancy but not for me, I open up ny freezer and top door rail is ettan and botton door rail is grov. As organized as I can be.

i kept a similar sheet in the begining to keep track of what was on order, what ive already tried. etc. there is alot of different snus out there to try, and in the very begining it is exciting and yet over whelming cause of the large scale of types, brands, flavors etc... so id say were not geeks.

If I get to a point where I use a small variety of snus, I might go that route, but while I'm trying stuff out, I just couldn't keep track without opening the fridge in the kitchen, running to the basement to look in the freezer than checking my open orders on 2 or 3 sites at a time. This will help me keep sane and not reorder stuff I have waiting to be sampled.

Plus it saves on rummaging around in the freezer.
I take a look at the xls and know what I have to choose from out of the variety that's available.

Also helps me avoid running low on anything of import.

            ETA: hehe, ^^^, exactly

I wasn't trying to find out if I was a geek, I know I am... just wondering where I fell in the scale of geekiness among snusers

I write software for a living and most of my life is tracked in some sort of database or spreadsheet, so I am most definately a geek. I don't see that as a bad thing, it's just who I am.

Seriously? Who would admit to doing this?

But, yea. I have a page on a wiki I run inside my firewall that lists everything I have ordered, everything I have received, an inventory of the bags in the freezer, what to order next, when to order it, the cost of each order so far, cummulative costs, costs versus smoking (current/projected), as well as some math for how long my stash should last based on several assumptions.

A wiki! That's pure genius! I'm almost ashamed of myself for not thinking of that. I use one to keep track of misc. information and notes on projects, etc. I may just have to "borrow" that idea

To answer your question: yes. A most definite and resounding yes. Keeping track of the amount of snus you order/use/have makes you a nerd.

It's all good though, I think there was probably a time when oral tobacco was about as far out of the nerd's wheelhouse as talking to girls and fly fishing. We've come along way in the past couple years.

next on my list is the fly fishing. a river runs through it made it look pretty fun. talking to girls will have to take a backseat again. someday.

Jesus. I can't even track my finances. For what it's worth, although it may not seem like it now, after a few years you will have no trouble remembering what you have and have not tried.

Nerd! Now that's just insulting "Geek", I can deal with.

Talking to girls was never a problem, but I've never been fly fishing... Now that I don't smoke (thanks to snus) and can have both hands free, I'll have to give that a shot.

I'm sure this won't come as a shock, but I have multiple spreadsheets for the finances... I have stopped myself from making fancy charts and graphs of my spending though, so I'm not as bad as some people I know.
