Hard to say what I'll do. I've got a decent sized stash of pipe tobacco, so I guess if I have to give up snus due to availability or price, I'll fall back on that. But I doubt my pipes are enough to keep me off the cigs. I may just cut back on snus and smoke my pipes more.

I'm hoping snus manufacturers/vendors get all their ducks in a row to comply with PACT, and get retail distribution channels set up, so at least I can find a few of my favorite brands in local stores, even if I do have to pay $5.00+ per can.

I am planning to cut back to around 6 or 7 mini portions a day and making my stash last for about a year. After that, it will just depend on current prices and availability. I began using snus with the goal of just using long enough to completely eliminate smokes from my life and I feel that I am just about there. If the price of snus goes way up, which I imagine it will, then quitting will be the only way to go. If the prices stay reasonable than I will just keep using snus until I am ready to quit.

The only good thing about the government taxing the crap out of tobacco is that the costs become a serious incentive not to use it. I saw that cigarettes were now going for $70.00+ a carton now when I went to the supermarket yesterday. I look at that and think to myself that there is no way I want to get into that habit again. The financial and health costs are just too great. A pack a day is now going to cost about the same as a car, albeit a cheaper model, payment.

I might have to. What I pay now isn't too bad, but the price is going to at least double for me in Wisconsin (100% mfg price tax + federal tax + UPS shipping). Gonna have to go back to chew which is still only 4 bucks a can here.

Sure, I can drive down to illinois and pick up some general WG once in awhile, but they don't sell anything in the US I'm a huge fan of.

I expect snus to about double in price in WI. Not looking forward to it, but I'll do it since there is no way I'm going to quit using tobacco. After 40 years of smoking and a year of snus that's not gonna happen. A can of loose last me about a week so very doable for me. I don't like it, but it's doable.

I just keep telling myself that

And then UPS sometimes would come when I'm not home, then sometimes they'd come late after I got home, which was fine, but not if they need a signature..... Well, it just so much better when USPS would just drop it on the porch, which I wished they'd had just done with my Olde Viking today.

Tom, unfortunately, age verification is a huge part of this deal. But question...

How far is the UPS station from you?? For all number of reasons, I have had to go pick up packages there or Fedex over the years. Just not an issue for me. It is 10 minutes away. Yes, adds an extra day to process. But so what if I am ordering in advance, I never care much if my snus takes a week or more. One day more isn't gonna be an issue. UPS pens at 7 AM, closes after 6 PM, so just stop on my way to work or back from work.

But one minor errand every 2 -3 months just isn't gonna be any kind of deal for me, especially given how much I like my snus. And again, to compare it to my days of smoking.. How many freakin times did I have to dash off to a store at all hours when I ran out of cigarettes?? Stopping at UPS once a quarter just not an issue.

At this point in my life I have no intention of quitting.

The other day, while driving I was thinking 'will I be snusing when I'm 70? (presuming I'll actually get there) I didn't have an answer.

Whatever... **** the both of them. Cigarettes are becoming so passe it's ridiculous and neither one of them can get their heads out of their asses long enough to make a decent mainstream alternative. So no matter what lengths they take and how many politicians they pay off to try and limit consumers' options in the end they will wind up losing most of their business to smokeless tobacco and companies like Swedish Match and US Smokeless.

OK. So here is my suggestion for you. Double or triple the size of your orders so you just don't have to make the trek too often. What I will do. Have been buying snus two months at a time, gonna double that next order so I have 4 months of snus. So what, an extra trip 3 times a year??? It's snus. So worth it LOL.

That's a great idea. Now if I can only double or triple the size of my paycheck so I can afford those larger orders. I went back to the discount tobacco store near my work and asked him if he was able to get any of the Swedish Snus on the list I gave him. He said he couldn't get anything, not even General, from his Swedish Match distributor and he does not know of any distributors that are carrying anything other than Camel or Marlboro. According to him, my best bet will be to buy it off the internet or buy it from one of the very expensive tobacco stores in the mall. He did mention that if I wanted special order cigars, he could probably help me out. This is the 4th store that has been unable to get it after they all told me "no problem, I can get anything from my distributor". The PACT Act is starting to suck already.

Nope, not planning on quitting. If the price via legal channels goes up too much for me, I'll resort to illegal ways of getting it.
