    Portion Snus

I'm actually surprised by it. I've been using loose exclusively since I became a snuser last spring or summer and never thought the little bags would do it for me.

I got a freebie can of Granit Whites with an order and I must say it caused me to to explore further. Coming soon to my mailbox: Onyx (the swirl packaging is truly bitchin') and Lucky Strike originals.

    More ideas would be appreciated.

This portion stuff is nothing like Copenhagen pouches, which I tried back in darker days and was totally unsatisfied.

One odd thing, though - I am really hesitant to try portions of my loose faves, which are Ettan, Skruf Stark, and Landstroms. I have a feeling I would find them less satisfying than the loose and therefore a disappointment.

Anyway, how's everyone doing? I haven't been by in a few months.

    Asta La Bye-Bye!

    Welcome back!

Skruf makes the best portions IMHO, in the meaning of easy on the gums, nicely shaped, releasing enough flavor. Gotlandsnus Grön and Offroad Strong Cranberry are also worth a try. Swedish Match produces fine brands of loose, but the portions tend to taste totally different. It's all a matter of personal preferences, though. Nearly every brand is worth a try.

BTW, I'm also quite hesitant to try a portion-variant of a favorite loose-brand (and vice versa).

    Cheers!

IMO, Ettan is better in portions. I like Stark both in portions and loose. The Landstoms only comes in loose, so thats out. I would recommend Gotlands Yellow if you haven't already tried it, very satisfying.

Ettan does taste different but it's good and it still tastes similar to the los. It keeps its flavor for a while and is more noticeable than general portions. I think I'm going to forego getting general portions anymore and just get ettans.

Ettan portions are my standard fare, interspersed with Roda Lacket and, on a bad day, Wise. The Ettans are fat and substantial, last a long time, and have just the right combination of pleasing tobacco flavour and nicotine punch. Just salty enough, too.

Skruf Stark is great in both loose and portion form!

Take note of F&L portion brands (Granit, Mocca, Diplomat, Metropol). I know that the Granit Maxis are much better shaped than the Swedish Match made General maxis. Also the Mocca lineup have the same basic quality to them as well. I'm not sure about Diplomat or Metropol, wouldn't be surprised if they exhibit the same.

They're plump, cylindrical and uniform compared to the mostly flat and a little clumpy, thick on one end, thin on the other swedish match brands.
They just fit very nicely and feel better. No having to 'fluff the pillow', so to speak, with them like you would on the SM brands.

I got a can of General maxis in a try out box, and I really like the feel of the portions. It's like a big comfy pillow in my mouth :^) The way I use portion snus though is kind of like American chew. I keep them well back in my mouth, and down a little low. Like chewing tobacco, but on the top side. I wouldn't get maxis because I really don't need that much snus in my mouth at one time, and it ends up being wasteful since you don't get as many portions per can.

                Edit:
Be sure to try the Grov portions. they have the pure tobacco flavor of Ettan, but more of it. It goes great with a cup of coffee.

I love the Ettan portions. They have more flavor than the loose, IMHO. I haven't had any in a few weeks so I'll be taking a can out of the freezer to enjoy later today.

Don't ever count out the Lucky Strike portions. I'm about almost halfway through my first tin of it and so far it's my fave. It's got the gritty feel that the cigs give off but not enough to the point where the other flavors it creates dont come out.

I have found the perfect niche for portions...drinking lots of beer.

Loose is messy, but it never bothers me. One time I went to the bar with only portions and it seemed perfect. Just pop it in and forget it. Very little spitting...

It's not a public/flirting with women thing either, it just seems better suited to continuous drinking than loose.

Portions also seem to last longer for me, which seems a little odd....and that's good. I snus more when I drink, but not when using portions.

So far, I have to say Tre Ankare is my favorite

I do not use portions hardly at all anymore. I have had a Skruff Original Portion open for about two months now with a few pouches left inside yet. But when I did use them more often I really loved LD Juniper Berry for the flavorful pouch and also Goteborg No. 2. Those were my favorites that more were flavorful and for more of the original I really liked General although i never did get to try Onyx yet, which I wish i had. I still have a few tins of LD Juniper Berry in the freezer. For some reason I just love the taste of it. Not to over powering and just a nice and suttle berry flavor to it. Anyone else really like the LD Juniper Berry or ever really tried them?

edit: Also forgot to add that the Mocca Mandarin were excellent too and my girlfriend who never really uses snus really liked them. I have a tin of the Mocca Pomegranate in my freezer yet to that I have yet to try. Me and my GF love Pomegranates and we buy them in bulk when they are in season around here, which only lasts for a couple months so I am sure we will enjoy those. If you can still get Mocca Mandarin I recommend them to, but only thing that sucks is they only come in mini so I always needed at least 2 in my mouth, but the flavor was perfect. Hoping to expect the same for the Pomegranate.

Very true, very true. I tried the General maxi portions once. The shape of the portions is very strange. They don't easily fit in the upper lip unless you fold them over and even then they kind of bulge out and are rather uncomfortable. The Granit maxi portions, on the other hand, are perfectly shaped, at least as far as my mouth is concerned. They suit me well and are a definite favorite of mine.

Last Thursday I bought my first can of portions (General Onyx black portion) since July and am beginning to somehow like 'em. Altough I'm totally a lös-guy, I like the fact that one can keep a portion in basically as long as one likes. You can't do that with lös. Just today I suddenly noticed that I've had a portion in for 3 hours(!) whereas I normally keep a pris of lös approx. 1 hour and it starts to "melt" after half an hour or so (yes, I've managed to keep a pris of lös in for 2½ hours but that was planned, today's "session" wasn't). But that's the only thing where portion beats lös.
