Snus Tracking Notice (FDA and PACT content/question)

I went to track my package on UPS today and it looks like they are starting to get their stuff together for PACT and the new FDA regulations. I'm not sure why this update reads this way but here it is.

    LOUISVILLE, KY, US
05/21/2010 9:56 A.M. UPS IS PROCESSING SHIPMENT FOR FUTURE SUBMISSION TO THE FOOD/DRUG ADMIN AND/OR DEPT OF AG PPQ / BROKERAGE RELEASED SHIPMENT. SHIPMENT IS SUBMITTED TO CLEARING AGENCY FOR FURTHER CLEARANCE

Anyone know what they are submitting to the FDA?

What did you order? How much? And where from?

50 cans of Gotlands gul los from snus.com (owned by Northerner).

The price per can makes it worth paying for UPS.

I did a google search for "UPS IS PROCESSING SHIPMENT FOR FUTURE SUBMISSION TO THE FOOD/DRUG ADMIN AND/OR DEPT OF AG PPQ / BROKERAGE RELEASED SHIPMENT. SHIPMENT IS SUBMITTED TO CLEARING AGENCY FOR FURTHER CLEARANCE" and found someone at TeaChat forum with the same problem and it looks like customs was looking for drugs. They broke bricks of dried tea in half to check for drugs. Mabye they are doing the same with your snus I really hope not, but I guess don't be supprised if you get open cans, that would really suck.

No kidding - you might be getting a bunch of open cans of snus that have been sitting in a warm customs warehouse. Should have used Swedish post. All kidding aside, I bet it is just some technicality and your snus will arrive just fine. You can always email Northerner and see if that is common with UPS.

That would be crap but at least it isn't anything related to new tobacco laws.

Your post just motivated me to order another roll of Granit minis - better get it while you can. I sent an email to buysnus and they replied that they were prepared for the PACT Act but I always figure it will be good to have a stash to draw from until you can see where the dust settles.

Even though Gotlands is registered with the FDA, they admitted there might be a gap where we can't order it so I am making sure I have enough to tide whatever gap there may be.

What's odd, is the FDA law isn't in effect yet, I don't think.

No way. I got my shotgun and my tinfoil hat and I ain't leavin' 'till I git mah snus!

The main thing I am worried about is getting a box of snus and fifty empty cans.

Hope you don't get a tax bill.

I've gotten open packages, opened can, and things that were taped up and stamped "inspected" with stickers before. Just USPS, not UPS. I threw away the opened ones. All I could imagine was some fat sweaty, rubber glove wearing, package inspector opening my snus and having a cliff hanger booger fall off his mustache into the can before snapping shut and taping my bag back up.

You- yours will be fine. Don't worry...

I've gotten the brokerage fee before. The main problem is I won't know which ones they opened as Gotlands doesn't seal their cans. I might have to guess out of a roll or two which one they opened.

I may be a tad upset if I get a tax bill
