Well, I know this is going to be a wild one, but if you really can't rely on your parents not to go digging through your stuff.....lock your door when you go out. Of course, if you don't have a locking bedroom door or key, that's not going to work. If your using your money to buy it, I'd just toss it in there. If they go through your fridge and freak out, I'd tell them what it is and ask for it back, before asking them why they were going through your personal belongings without asking you. Of course, if you don't think your parents would do anything more than the whole "son, I'm disappointed" bit, I'd just tell them. I hit 18 and I told my mom I smoked. Couple of days of the whole disappointed bit, and then it was just the odd "you know you should stop smoking" speech. They know I use snus, and I keep my snuff all on my desk. I don't hear any complaints now that I'm not sitting in my room smoking it out everyday.

Well Cenex, you know your parrents best, but sometimes we tend to worry alot about what they might think and say...and sometimes we ourself make it wors....! of course they will be a bit disappointed and maby angry, but they are your parrents and are allowed to......the "We made you" line will always be there, aswell as you are allowed to say; well your right, you made me, but this is my life and I think this is a great thing for me, it isent like smoking and this is my choice!!! your mom proberbly will go around the rest of her life saying: ohhh I do hope you will quit those things, like most moms do!

and if they might look in your fridge, they might look in any cans or boxes you got in there, to se if any of it is old food and so on! stick it in there , when your home or you know your parrents arent home and take it out and put it into another place where your sure, they wont look, when you are out of your room! that might help you a bit.

Interesting - I wonder if you could make the case for product liability... Had they made you properly then you wouldn't be interested in snus/nicotine?

maby this line: You made me, without my consent, i dident ask for it! I should say this would be enough - One is a product of one's parrents, there is by this an legal dispute of wether a child is innocent and its parrents guilty!

I don't know - you run the risk that they might remedy the situation.

I can relate Cenex. I am ___ years old (a woman never reveals her age) and hide my stash when my parents come for a visit. I am definitely way too old (not TOO old though ) to be hiding my habits, but parents just don't understand sometimes, especially ones that quit cigs cold turkey back in the day and now view all tobacco as evil. Anyway, I couldn't handle moving my snus out of the fridge and just let it sit in my closet during their 2 week visit so I got a small cooler and some of those blue plastic icepaks and stored the snus in the cooler in my closet, hidden, with the icepaks that I ritually changed out each morning. In the end, my snus stayed nice and cold and my parents can continue on without thinking their daughter is some sort of tobacco junkie, everyone was happy. Next time, I am going to get an even better cooler and use dry ice which I have read can last for several days.

Maybe I am unique to the female race, but, my theory is simple: 'don't tell,' and if you get caught, DENY DENY DENY! Tell your parents that you are holding it for a friend! LOL

I typically hide my snus between my lip and my gums on either the upper left or right side.

@Deserex......I am soooo tempted to fill in the age of your post. But alas, I wouldn't edit someone elses post unless it was official mod business.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I'm 19 as well, before I found out about snus, I dipped Kodiak.. My parents knew about this though and have not asked any questions about my snus. As it is now I have it stored in my basement freezer/refrigerator.

If I was you, I would just stick it in the back of your fridge/freezer and if your parents question it, explain to them its way better than you smoking.

Well at this point in my life my mother knows I smoked though we never talked about it. She knows I've quit and that I'm suing snus. I don't deny it but I also only keep one can around when she's around. I guess I just don't broadcast it. In all cases like this I tell whomever what it is briefly and ask them to do a little research. I couldn't imagine having a meaningful conversation about something that you know little or nothing about. You've always got that in your back pocket. Plus, Cenex, do you know your parents' experience with tobacco? they might have used some at some point in their lives.

Ha! I'd love to get my mom stoned. She won't do it though. I know that's a little off topic but the thought just popped into my head.

I give you permission, but you can't be making numbers up, you have to put my real age - 23.

I got a rash of crap from my mom about tobacco every time I talked to her. I'm 30, have two kids and live 1,000 miles away.

When I smoked, she would tell me to stop and cry.

When I dipped she'd tell me my jaw would fall off.

She hasn't seen my stash of snus since I switched and I'm not showing it to her or telling her about it. I won't snus in front of her and she thinks I don't use tobacco anymore. She doesn't believe in harm reduction.

If she ever catches me with snus I'm back to being chewed out every time we speak.

                              My dad ignores it.

All parents are different and how you handle it is your choice.

I told my parents about both when I was smoking and dipping. I was honest and expected to be treated like an adult who made a decision. I'm not making that mistake with snus.

i think i was 19 when i started using camel snus. or 20. either way im 22 now and when i first ordered i hid my cans in the crisper underneath a bunch of shit. then i got a mini fridge in my room. i think its funny that so many of you older folks can relate to not wanting to tell your parents about it. i thought i was just being a little baby. i just always figured it was never worth the conversations. eventually i got busted. my mom found some camel snus cans in my car and was all blah blah my uncle died of throat cancer from chewing all his life blah. so i was like alright whatever. but still felt weird about letting her know how many cans i had of snus after that, again, something i dont like to explain to people. and then the god damn box pass from hell happened. and my mom goes into my room to get something while i have the reaper box completely sprawled out, ****in parrot feathers and skittles and something like 50 cans of snus all over my floor. she didnt say a word. she knows i snus now, and thinks im totally weird to boot. now that im moved out, i wonder sometimes if she ever looks in my freezer while shes here.
