Concerns about Lucky Strike

I just got my first can of Lucky Strike regular portions today, but have some reservations.

On the can it boasts that it's an "American Original" and that it's toasted. When I first switched to snus it was because of the lower TSNAs. In my research, I learned that heat is what causes the high levels of TSNAs in other tobacco products. Heating and smoking of dip and of course the actual flame during cigarette smoking.

Does anyone know if Lucky Strike has comparative levels of TSNAs to other snus?

....or is this American dip disguised as snus?

By the way, I have yet to try it...still enjoying Onyx....

19 years ago, Lucky Strike unfiltered cigs were what I started smoking. I don't think I will ever try LS snus for that reason. Though you make a good point. Is it just a toasted flavor? or do they use a fire/smoke cured leaf like american dipping tobacco? I dont think they do. Otherwise it would be dip, not snus. Would love to hear from the experts on this one.

I'm no expert by any stretch, but I think LS has TSNA amounts comparable to other brands. The flavor tastes about the same as every other snus out there. It does have an almost smoky flavor, that I believe comes from added smoke flavoring(not unique to LS).

A tobacco company can't afford to have a product that isn't as healthy as it can be. They'd be torn apart in the press, and they might as well kiss their business goodbye. As you know LS is produced by British American Tobacco, but I believe the actual manufacturer is Fiedler & Lundgren. I don't know if you'll officially see this anywhere, but another forum member saw LS on the assembly line while watching a corporate video from F&L. In any case, I don't think there's anything to worry about with LS snus. It's pretty good, and has one of the best tins in the business :^)

well i just looked at my can and it says made in sweden. that would mean that it would have to follow the processes of the other snus brands right?

As LS is one of my fave brands, I use it quite a bit. I pretty much think that you have no worries, as they probably dont actually toast it. Frankly, every cigarette is toasted through the fire curing process so the tagline has always confused me. I smoke Luckies too and enjoy them as well, but not enough to be addicted per say, I smoke maybe 1-3 a week at the most.

But yeah, LS tastes like most snus with an added smoky/coffee flavor IMO

Lucky strike is made by flsnus. The nitrosamines is the same level as granit, diplomat and general. Flsnus is hired by lucky strike to make the snus.

Yes, Lucky Strike is pretty good stuff. This was a brand I had left over after I'd run out of my fav's and was waiting on another order. Lucky Strike really grew on me during that time and it is definitely one of my fav's now.

I use Oliver Twist original in between snusing and it is smoked cured, which has given me the same reservations.

LS is produced in Sweden at the Fiedler and Lundgren factory. I'm pretty sure the "toasted" flavor is simply a flavor additive. The harm aspect of cigarettes comes mainly from chemical process in the smoke, so LS is just as safe as any snus.
