Marboro Snus Coming To Sweden ?

    http://www.newzglobe.com/sv/artikel/...satsar-pa-snus

    Marlboro satsar på snus
    2010-05-23 | Publicerad 10:21

    Marlboro Snus is investing in
    2010-05-23 | Posted 10:21

2007 big bet on the launch of Marlboro Snus in Sweden, which was a huge flop. Now invest tobacco company behind the famous brand, Philip Morris, again at its flagship.

Tobacco giant Philip Morris is facing a major effort to snuff, and now it is the flagship Marlboro to be packed in boxes. According to Newzglobe will both be loose and portion. When Newzglobe confronts Philip Morris with information they want at first did not recognize them.

    - What have you got the information from, "says Ulrika Dennerborg, press officer at Philip Morris. We know that you have tested the products.
    - Well, I can not comment on our products, "she says with compressed voice.

Newzglobe have tested two varieties of the new Marlboro Snus, one has full-bodied flavor of tobacco and the other has a ton of whiskey.

    - Both types were really good, "said one of the test panel.
    - I was surprised when I saw that it was the Marlboro Snus we tetat, "said another of the test panel.

What is there to get Philip Morris to launch its heaviest cigarette brand snus in the near future? Will the ban on snus in the EU about to be abolished?

That's what I'm thinking. There's 2 different Philip Morris companies, and they may not be able to cross sell brands :^S

                  June 2008 - PMI launches 1847
February 2009 - Swedish Match and PMI enter into joint venture marketing agreement.
November 2009 - Swedish Match takes over production of 1847
                  June 2010 - 1847 delisted
                  ???? 2010 - Swedish Marlboro launched

                  Me speculating......
Swedish Marlboro will be nothing like American Marlboro. It will be made by Swedish Match. Distributed in Sweden by Swedish Match, with input from Swedish Match.
Plans for Marlboro snus were in the works from day one when the joint venture between Swedish Match & PMI was announced.
1847 was given 6 months to show improvement in market share once Swedish Match took over production and it failed.

We have an emerging trend, the battle of the flagship brands, BAT's Lucky Strike, JTI's Camel, and now(?) PMI's Marlboro.
PMI is playing catch up to it's competitors, I fully expect them to take full advantage of Swedish Match's expertise. PMI has a lot at stake in protecting their Marlboro brand image.

Must admit kind of thought it might tie in with the withdrawal of 1847.

Actually, as I think about it, my WAVE mention, was sort of a joke, but really, since JTI makes WAVE, and it's a semi-popular brand in the US and highly available, if they did make a WAVE snus, this would be something that could easily be marketed at the local drug stores, gas station, and groceries.
