I used Copenhagen, Kodiak and most recently Grizzly for the last 20 plus years.
Dip- Spitting is needed when you first try a new brand. After a short time maybe once or twice after putting it in and then you will not need to unless you save up spit in your mouth. Dip is very hard on your mouth over the long term. The flavor/juice is much stronger. Dip to snus is like a filterless hand rolled cig compared to a "ultra light" filtered Marlborro IMHO.

You should try Oliver Twist from Odense first, before you venture into the endless world of international smokeless tobacco with it's tax and customs traps. But that's just my opinion.

For a maximum nicotine kick there is no alternative to the several Makla varieties from Belgium, which can be ordered tax-free inside the EU. The taste of the stuff is only for fans, but not totally different from more traditional Swedish brands like Granit or Skruf Stark.

      Cheers!

I have tried out the Oliver Twist - the taste is pretty good, but it doesn't provide the nic buzz I'm looking for.
I am not familiar with the Makia from Belgium, and since I only know one place to order snus from within the EU (The Northener) I have never seen it online. Any idea where I can get the stuff?

Good question. I only know 2 vendors from Germany who appear not to ship internationally.

Maybe the manufacturers can help you - they have an e-mail-link on their website: http://www.sifaco.be/Engl/Histoire_eng.htm

          Cheers!

            Check page 86 or so
I dunno danielan the chart on page 93 shows American dip to be any where from double the TSNA levels to 5x the levels of that found in General snus.

I'm not sure how old the cans were when the test was done, but I also know that with American dip (unlike pasteurized snus) the TSNA level will rise with the self life of the can.

I also think we need to remember that TSNA is but one of many factors that need to be examined and compared (albeit a big one).

To me dip is just not worth the risk
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

If you want to try dip, I'd order some copenhagen straight or natural from northerner just to see what you think. I dip occasionally, generally a few times a week, and enjoy having it around just for changing things up. It's very different from snus, but I enjoy it thoroughly. It should give you a nice nicotine rush since most of it is released very quickly compared to snus.

But just to satisfy your curiosity, it won't kill you. If you prefer high octane stuff, you probably won't care for chew as much. WB Cut, seemed to have decent nic, but most chew I tried was on the weaker side. You'd probably want to try Copenhagen, Timber Wolf or Grizzly natural for higher nic content or maybe Skoal, if for some weird reason you think you might like Wintergreen flavor.
I honestly don't know why people dislike Wintergreen. I love it just as much as Peach. (BTW, i dip Grizzly) and I have been considering moving over to snus. NOT CAMEL. But if you wish to at least try dip, go with a good brand (Grizzly, Wolf, Skoal, Cope) and NOT cheap brands such as Longhorn. Longhorn dip is just cheap and nasty...

It is probably because wintergreen, to us europeans, smells like a topical ointment used to sooth muscle aches. It doesn't taste that bad but the smell can be very off putting, especially since we don't have wintergreen flavoured things over here, unlike in the states where it is very common.
