    Elixyr line review

    Elixyer Power Energy:

This snus has a medicinal taste somewhat like cough drops. Eucalyptus is definately present and this snus reminds me of a toned down Catch Eucaliptus. It does have an energy drink type taste in there as well. I can't really taste the caffeine. I actually really enjoyed the taste of this stuff, kind of different. No caffeine effects were noticed but I probably have a high caffeine tolerance. I would give it a 8 out of 10 for the taste, which is interesting.

    Elixyer Orginal:

This snus tastes a lot like Phantom IMO, sweet tobacco taste. I find Phantom to be the bane of the snus world so I obviously didn't like this one. 1 out of 10, though if you like sweet snus it might be for you.

    Elixyer Peppermint:

It has an intense minty taste that mellows quickly to a nice smooth minty flavor. Not much to taste here besides mint but it is not sweet like the Offroad mint making it much better IMO. 6 out of 10.

Packaging on the whole line is very cheesy and looks like it was designed for a video game. I do like their ashtray lid. The whole package looks cheap.

Cool, thanks for the review.... I think i'll go ahead and skip this one. Did anyone try the new retro yet? Any reviews on that?

Hi there. I'm a frequent lurker on the site and it's been a great source of knowledge and entertainment. I've been snusing in the UK for almost two years. Anyway, I received three cans of the Elixyr Power Engergy this morning, which I thought I'd try, and I agree with the above posting. It has a noticeable medicated flavour but I found it fairly subtle and pleasant.

However, I didn't notice any caffiene effects whatsoever. I was hoping to be buzzing around like Robbie the Robot on speed, but alas, no.

I would buy it again, though. And, yes, the only word to describe the packaging is 'poxy'.

      Cheers

        Elixyr Power

Thought the packaging was a bit "video game"y - aimed at students and emo kids. The snus however was weird - not as bad as I expected, but oddly light in the tobacco department - the colour was even like a light brown somking tobacco rather than a snus. I don't know if it's the flavour of taurine itself but it tasted suspiciously of Red Bull, slightly sour and like Refreshers sweets from my childhood - a little bit sickly and fake sherbert fruit.

I didn't notice the caffeine, but did notice the taurine effect of wide eyes for all of 10 minutes. I might keep a tin in the car for late night driving after gigs - I hate using Red Bull as a keep awake drink for it's saccharine sweetness, but taurine does definitely help with alertness.

However - I wouldn't really use it on a day to day basis, it's not a real snus!

Sometimes wrong and sometimes right .... but ALWAYS certain!!!

Ha, I must be a real lightweight as far as caffeine. I just got a can in over the weekend, and have been using this for my first portion in the morning, and it gives me enough energy to get started in the morning. Then again, I don't drink coffee at all, so really any caffeine gets me going.

The taste is okay, they don't seem to be very long lasting though at all, I change it out pretty quick after getting to work in the morning.

Finally got my order of two tins of Elixyr Power Energy.

That medicine taste? Oh boy. Did your mother ever put mercurichrome or tincture of iodine on your tongue after a nasty bite? That's what this tastes like to me. Almost, but not quite, nauseating at first.

I had hoped this would become a pick-me-up product I would use daily. Now I doubt it. I don't find the taste pleasant and can't taste tobacco at all. Not an overwhelming kick either.

I'll finish the two tins before deciding if this has any place in my rotation.

One more note on first day's use: I popped one in about 8 p.m. and watched some television. Turned in at 11:30 as usual. Now, I've read before that it takes a non-smoker 10 minutes to fall asleep and a smoker 30 minutes. I've found that true. But at 1:30 a.m, I was wide-eyed and bushy tailed! My brain was firing on all cylinders, thinking up new stuff. Then I remembered the Power Energy portion that I didn't remove until 9:30 p.m.

So ... while I didn't FEEL any kind of heart-pounding kick, it obviously has another surprise waiting if used late in the day.

Second opinion: Non-smoking wife hates it worse than anything I've yet tried. Said it smells like dirty wet socks. Phew.
