Current or Previous Marlboro Red smokers.

I'm trying to get my Dad to quit smoking and start using Snus, he has been smoking cowboy killers for around 40 years now. What snus do you think he would like. I gave him a General Mint once and it lasted about 5 minutes before he spit it out and said it "stung" lol.

I'm hoping I can give him a few cans of something that he might enjoy for Father's day. Please give me some suggestions.

Just about any snus your give him will burn for the first week, but he'll work through it...if you explain what's happening. I'd give him more of a straight flavor, instead of something mint. Maybe Grov, Ettan...even Roda would be a good starter snus. Gotta toss in a sterk of some sort though, IMO....it helps get over the cravings. Good luck!

When I quit I was smoking Marlboro Reds.
Don't try and match the taste. Snus and cigarettes are two different animals.

When I first switched I didn't like the salt so I tended towards flavoured snus. General Wintergreen, LD Black, Thunder Frosted. Once I got used to the salt then I started to appreciate the standard flavours. (and now very rarely do I use a flavoured snus.)
Find something he likes the taste of so he'll keep it in long enough to get the nicotine as a substitute for smokes.

Thunder Frosted. Will give ample nicotene, it's a flavor his pallete is likely already used to since he's used gum before, and it can be bought at northerner for like $2.00 a can.

I'd stay away from the mints. General mint is pretty mild tobacco wise. I'm guessing it's the mint burn he didn't like. Get a few cans of different flavors, and see if he likes any of them.

I'm on a huge Ettan kick right now, so I'd suggest that.

              Great, simple tobacco taste.

I used to smoke Mediums and Red Marlboro. Not that I think it matters now.

Nick and Johnny Strong has a great flavour, and being as it's a Sterk, it will curb those cravings. I will say though, I don't know that I could have quit as easily without General Ekstra Sterk Los. It just made the transition seamless, aside from the loose Tobacco in my mouth, it was great. It's alright in portion form, but being as portions are easier to use, I'd say stick with those for now. Try and get him a can or two of Nick and Johnny strong, see how that goes, so far, they're my favorite portion, not that it will be his, just perhaps a good "straight" flavour to start with.

Tre Ankare is a good tobacco snus that he might enjoy as well that fits along the line of Ettan and N&J.

i just tried it for the first time a few days ago..not bad at all

I'd suggest Ettan, Nick and Johnny, and Grovsnus. If he can't handle the burn at all, you could try some General Silver if they still make it. Could also try some flavored stuff if those flavors don't cut it. Maybe Skruf Cranberry, Elixyr peppermint, or Offroad Frosted or something along those lines.

I think, unless he wants to stop smoking and has an open mind about snus that forc feeding him it will never convert him. While I appreciate the sentimen,t maybe just buy him a a few fishing lures or something and let your snusage seep into his mind till he figures out that it is feasible to quit smokes with snus and then asks you for a can, especially since us snussers alway seem to have an extra can or 30 hanging around, once again just my 2 shiney pennies on the subject....

I started with Thunder Frosted, I can tell you the burn was HORRIBLE! But from the Thunders, I'd recommend Berry.

The mint adds more burn in the General Mint. I have experienced it and it's noted in the product description.

                            I don't mind a good tobacco burn.

I'd say Ettan or Grov, Lucky Strike if you could still get it.
