Although, I have made some vanilla mint a few times, but that, IMO, turns out best with the official SnusX flavorings.

The cinnamon extract on wine and dine is an interesting idea.... I may have to try that if Northerner fails to come through with the official one for Christmas.

How does the wine and dine react to being wet? Do you still get the same nic-hit? Do you let it dry completely after flavoring it?

Not that I'm ok with that, but Cinnamon Northerner would be great to release for Valentine's day too - if you guys miss Christmas for some unforeseeable reason.

Still trying to decide whether or not to get a SnuX bucket when they become available stateside by the end of the year. If I do, I'll probably be looking to you for some guidance. I will have to try the Vanilla Mint; it should work out great with the Catch Pure Mint.

With the Wine & Dine, I drop a few drops of concentrate (4-6 to start with) between both sides of a portion. If using extracts, I 'paint' both sides with a Q-Tip (yeah, I know I'm cheap but it's sanitary and it works). After a first taste-test I can add more if the flavor is too subtle. So far, I've already done test batches of food-grade clove essential oil (the clove extract is due in this week), cinnamon extract, and pie spice extract; the W&Ds have remained dry right out of the vacuum process with a hint of flavor like the rest of the Northerners. Next time I'll add more of the flavors and see what happens.

I vacuum-marinate, which works much quicker than just letting them sit for a few days. I place the portions on a cut-to-fit piece of dry wax paper and then flavor both sides of the portions. The size of the paper depends on the zippered pouch I'm going to use to store the finished portions; I cut the paper to twice the size needed so I can fold it over the portions before placing in the pouches.

Once I have the portions flavored and pouched, I place them unzipped in a single layer with no overlap in an appropriate size Ziploc vacuum bag; the process of vacuum-sealing the bag also generally zips the smaller pouches. I let them marinate 6-12 hours and they're good to go (3 hours if I'm really anxious). I do this for all portions, not just the Wine & Dine. My Kahlua and Bailey's Irish Cremes are really good (as I'm sure jagmanss might attest to since he's pretty much using the same process).

Hope this answers your questions and doesn't sound too confusing.

btw, FTW, I use flavor extracts and concentrated drops from faerie's finest. Good prices and free Priority Mail shipping on orders of only $25+. The zippered pouches I use hold 6 portions; I got them at Walmart, in the pharmacy section, in packages of 50 (they're sold as pill pouches). The dry wax paper I've bought at BJ's for years; it's similar to those papers you find in the supermarket bakery section for handling pastries.

Star Scientific just added cinnamon and citrus flavors for Ariva dissolvables, but not Stonewall. The citrus is remarkably tasty, but the cinnamon almost turned my stomach. It most definitely does not taste like Dentyne or Big Red for an Atomic Fireball. It's more like licking powdered spice. Earthy -- and not in a good way.

This is the first I've read of SnusX returning. That would rock my world. The costs of snusing have skyrocketed since I began about four years ago, and when I ran out my SnusX bucket, dread set in. I've been unable to get any since PACT. I sweeten the portions (about 24 at a time) with one packet of Stevia dissolved in water. Just enough sweetness and I maintain the tobacco flavor.

I recall Fredrik saying a while back (can't remember the thread and the search here
is just too vague to wade through all the links it serves up!) that FDA approval was in
the works and should be completed by the end of the year. Can you imagine the size
of the warning labels for those babies!!

Re: Star Scientific... Stonewall is where it's at and new flavors would be welcomed
(aside from the cinnamon since it sounds gross). At 2mg nicotine, I consider Ariva
to be a waste of time and money.

Thanks for the mention of Stevia; I've been looking for something to sweeten some
of my snus flavoring experiments. Do you make a paste of it or slightly more watery
than a paste? I'm game to give it a try as long as it doesn't taste like Camels!!

Whoa! Good to 'see' you TropicalBob! Long time...or perhaps I have just missed the threads you've posted in. I can imagine the stomach turning cinnamon flavor you are describing so I'll steer clear of that. Northerner 'chefs' should pick some up and try it so they know what to avoid when developing Cinnamon!

Liquid Stevia is VERY sweet. Like 1 drop is enough for a can of 24 portions for me.

Great. I will definitely look into them. According to the info I got
by Googling liquid stevia, the stuff runs about $15 per 2-oz bottle.
Wonder if WF has the cinnamon flavored; would imagine a single
drop of that would be more than enough for a few Wine & Dines!!
Sounds like what I need to sweeten my bubblegum snus!

Also found this recipe that is good for overall sweetening:

How To Make Your Own Liquid Stevia Sweetener

Make your own stevia sweetener to add by the drop. This is a
simple way to have all the sweetener you will ever need.

            Difficulty: Easy
            Time Required: 10 minutes

            Here's How:
            1. Place one teaspoon of stevia powder in coffee filter
            2. Place coffee filter into heat proof coffee mug.
            3. Pour boiled water over stevia powder.*
            4. Allow to steep for 5 minutes.
            5. Remove coffee filter containing stevia powder.
            6. Allow sweet liquid to cool.
            7. Place in bottle with a dropper.
            8. Use by the drop, stevia is extremely sweet.
            9. Make more every week.

            Tips:
            1. Do not squeeze filter to remove every bit of water. This adds bitterness.
            2. Steeping for a longer time may add a bitter aftertaste.
            3. Stevia should be used by the drop. Taste after each drop to not over do it.

            What You Need:
            • Powdered stevia leaves
            • Unbleached coffee filter
            • Coffee mug
            • Boiling hot water*
            • Dropper bottle

            * Doesn't say how much water to use!

Not sure if/when I'll try this but figured somebody might get some use of it.
Wonder if this homemade version needs to be refrigerated?

Hello again to my old friends. Glad to see you're here. I've not been away from snus (or e-cigs), just forums for awhile. I am frustrated at how expensive and difficult it has become to obtain snus for experimentation. Taxes and shipping are out of control. Speaking of taxes .. just to test, I bought a tin of the new Camel Robust snus in Georgia while on vacation -- $2.68. I bought a second one in Florida last week -- $4.xx. Georgia has 10% tobacco tax; Florida is 85%.

I buy Stevia in the small packet form, like Nutrasweet or Equal only without cancer-causing compounds. To sweeten an entire tin of SnusX, I was using one packet. That's too sweet. If I get a chance again, I'll make the liquid and try about three drops in a tin of 24.

I finally managed to get to one of the Whole Foods in Providence (there are 2).

The plain Stevia 2oz is ~$9 ... flavored ~$13. They had Vanilla Creme and
Lemon Drops. The gal called the other 2 stores in RI for Cinnamon Drops
and was informed they've been discontinued. BUMMER. Sometime in the
next couple weeks I'll visit the Cranston WF, right up the road from Trader
Joe's, to see if they might have any other flavored Stevia drops.

Hopefully I'll get to try these three sometime this week.

Also received some flavor extracts and flavor drops from faeries.
They were ordered Monday, shipped Wednesday from CA, and I
received them midday Friday .... less than 2 days travel time!!
