My wife's uncle who is a smoker is coming over tonight for dinner. He's a pretty heavy non menthol smoker who said he's interested in snus..

What I have non frozen for him to try is..

Thunder frosted extra sterk
Goteborgs Rape
General Mint
Ettan
A general wintergreen sampler lol

which one should I have him try?

Tough one. What do you have that is frozen? If he's not coming until tonight there is plenty of time to thaw them out. If you have something strong and not flavored that may be the best bet for a heavy non menthol smoker. Otherwise let him try the Thunder, but warn him that it's going to burn his lip and probably give him the hiccups but he definitely won't need a smoke.

On another note, I was just introduced to Tosh.0 this past weekend and you may be right about it being the best show ever created. Effing hilarious. I've been DVRing every episode since and have been watching and lmao every day this week.

Yeah Tosh is hilarious, I lol all the time. I'm not racist but some things he says is hilarious. U never hear white guys saying some stuff he does. Also try web soup it's not as good but has its moments.

True, I only liked the mint when I started. Now I'm enjoying the non mint like ettan and goteborgs

I think Ettan might be the best bet. Otherwise I'd pull out a plain sterk from the freezer. Being a non-menthol kinda guy myself the mint snus is a big turn-off for me. If it were the first snus I tried I'm all but certain that I wouldn't be snusing at all now. Show him your collection too. There's something to be said about that and your enthusiasm will only help. If he wants to try one of the frozen portions then fine. They'll thaw out enough in your hand in a couple of minutes...or just pop it in your (well, his) mouth. It's only cold for a second. Ha! I just popped a frozen N&J in.

I've gotten more people to try it by explaining it all to them and letting them choose which to try. I'd also suggest a less salty one but I can't really offer any advice there as I can't really taste the salt much anymore. Do you have any Onyx for him? I bet he'd like that. Or General OP I think would be a good starter...it's the most popular for a reason.

Wicked I think you're right, give him the options and let him decide which one he'd like to give a shot. I'll let him know what they are all like and he can decide for himself.. Nope no onyx I never tried that myself lol.

Non-menthol smokers generally fall into 2 categories: the ones who absolutely can't stand menthol, and those who really don't care, but have a slight preference for non-menthol. If he's the first, he'll probably like the Ettan best. It's pretty neutral. If he sometimes will smoke a menthol cig if offered, the General Mint would be good. But I agree that the best thing to do would be to give him samples of several flavors and let him decide.

Well I gave it the old college try.. He seemed somewhat interested but
not really.. I told him all about it and offered him one he said "nah I just had a cig I'll try it later. So I sent him off with a few portions hopefully I planted a seed. If I was in his shoes I woulda jumped at it. Oh well lol

Well, smokers smoke because they want to smoke, and even if they wanna quit somewhat, they still only really know smoking, and something new and different is just odd to them, and usually one has to be self motivated to try something new with a serious intent to make it work, or switch.

That's pretty much the experience I've had. I didn't start snusing until I was truly sick of smoking.
