Camel Robust and Winterchill have arrived in my area

So yeah, the new tins are awesome. They incorporated the warning labels in a genius design. It's only around the bottom area that the Camel refrigerators keep covered in the stores. The warning label pokes out further I guess is the best way I could put it on the tin and overall the can design is just awesome. Never noticed this on the Mellow, but Robust says it's 100% foreign tobacco.

Now, I only got Robust but next time I'm checking out Winterchill. So my opinions below are on Robust only.

As soon as you open up the tin a weird aroma hits your face that will immediately make you think of Swedish snus. No lie. I'm smelling a lot of pepper and a slight citrusy note in there. And you'll also notice that the new portion size is MUCH larger than the old design.

Now funny thing is, I don't taste pepper really. Tobacco, citrus, and the normal Camel sweetness is the flavor profile for my taste buds. But the sweetness seems to be much more toned down with this new flavor. It's actually pleasant. Now this is after only one portion. Me and the wife are about to go to the movies for our anniversary and I'm bringing this stuff along as my only snus. If the sweetness starts overpowering me it should happen before the night's up. I know it took about 6 portions of the Mellow before the sweetner got to be too much.

So far this is really good, though. Much more moist than the older Camel stuff. And I'm not one who really gets a nicotine buzz but I can atleast say I'm satisfied in the nicotine department. This may not turn out to be every day material, but even after one portion I can say Robust is MORE than worthy of you treating yourself to a portion every once in a while.

There would be nothing better for the US snus world then for Camel to come out with a snus that was more then just a supplement for those times when you can't smoke. Who knows. If the US makers keep plugging away at it someone might actually get it right.

        Thanks for the review.

If it's in your area, it's probably in mine too. I'll have to look next time I'm at the gas station.

Is this better than Thunder Frosted?

Thanks for the update. I'm looking forward to your further impressions of Robust and to trying it myself. I was hopeful that "Robust" suggested Camel was trying to do something more Swedish-like, and it sounds like that is the case. Not that I'd give up my General and other Swedish snus, but it would be nice to have a halfway decent snus available at corner gas stations.

On my second portion the pepper taste is starting to jump out at me a little bit. The more I taste of this stuff the more I see what they're trying to do here. It's basically General only tone down the flavor dramatically to where it's basically just hints of everything you love about that snus behind a predominant sweet taste. Again, the sweetness still isn't making me gag.

I'm gonna be out tomorrow, and I'll see if these are available locally. if so, I'll get them. Actually, with the new tin designs, and it haveing been way over a year since I've had any Camel snus, I might just get one of each to collect the tins. I do have a Frost tin, I put mints in. Maybe.

I wonder if 7-11 will have these?

Tom, if you can't find 'em there....go across the bridge to Charlestown. I bet they'd have 'em.

                          Still only 15 portions?

Yeah, still 15. But the 15 barely fit in there anymore since they made the size bigger.

Not so fast young Skywalker. Offroad Frosted is nothing but Thunder Frosted with half the nic. Also any Offroad or Phantom loose is worthy of consideration, cheap too.
