Marlboro Snus? Actually pretty darn good!

So a co-worker brought in some trial packs of Marlboro Snus Rich (and Spearmint). I tried searching here, but couldn't find a thread if anyone had already wrote about this. The packaging is terrible. It looks like a cigarrette (sp) package but 1/4 of the width. Comes with 6 portions, smells like pipe tobacco/chocolate and jim beam rolled into one. It's a white, so dry, which is what I prefer. It is on the sweet side, but not anywhere near Camel's pile of crap.

This isn't something I would use as a regular, but I have to admit, for something like a 'desert' snus, this is really damn good. I would call it an American snus that they actually got freakin right!

Has anyone else seen or tried these? The guy that let me try them, found them at his local gas station in Naperville, IL. I'm curious what you guys think of this stuff.

My smoker buddies say they think the Camel is better than the Marlboro.

Huh...I can't see it, but to each their own.

Oh and the Spearmint...paper?...whatever they use for the actual portion material...it is really stiff.

I tried the Marlboro Rich. It seemed kinda good at first, and I was thinking I liked it more than Camel.... but then the flavor and sweetness become overbearing, and I could not stand it, and the flavor lingered and was hard to dissipate.
Personally I hate it, and Camel.

I have to agree with Tom. Not only are they too sweet, it is an artificial sweetener, which I hate.

But, if you enjoy them, that's ok with me.

The after taste is what I can't get over as far as Marlboro Rich.

Ok, I have finished the portion. Tom and ratcheer are correct with the sweet comments. If you mess with the portion at all, you will get punched in the face with a fake maple syrup flavor that is fairly disgusting.

I still can't help thinking though that American type snus is going in the right direction. I won't buy any of this, but I don't think I would turn it down if someone offered it to me. Obviously this was a "shiny new object" type snus for me. It smells good, and right off it was fine, but once in, do NOT touch it or move it around.

Now to cleanse my mouth with some Onyx or Grov Black.

This is just a heads-up... Marlboro rich snus
might add to the perspectives in this thread.

Actually found that link when I Googled for Marlboro Rich Snus

What I don't get is why the american snus sucks so much compared to the american dip. I mean, in terms of flavor and packaging. Most of the dip I usually see does not actually come in pouches. And then you have the flavors, where most of the dip is not fragranced with the ammonia odor and if there is an addition of flavor, they are actually more "flavorful".

Grizzly's Wintergreen, tastes delicious and really feels like a some mint/spearmint flavor.

Camel Snus Frost...Taste's like crap, with ammonia scent. Neither qualities of which I consider to be "menthol"

I guess I am just confussed. Are they trying to reach some new different market with the american snus. Because can't they just see what are the positives of the american dip and just use that in the snus manufacturing receipe.

I am just saying, it would be nice for an american snus to actually have the quality taste of the american dip. That way you'll get to enjoy the "safeness" of snus, but with actual enjoyable flavor.

But as for Marbloro. Definitely too sweet. Tastes and smells too much like some wine, but not neccesary a good flavor/smell combo.

Sweet doesn't begin to describe this dastardly concoction of chemicals. It reminds me of a creme-filled chocolate-coated donut that caught my attention a while back. At first bite I couldn't help but think, 'How can something that looks so good and normal taste like _____' -- I was truly lost for any one appropriate word to describe the sensation that almost resulted in nausea. My censor dictionary jumped up a few notches that day!!

Back to the General Black Onyx with the hope that it's strong enough to bring me back my flavor buds. If I had a really sweet tooth this might be passable but, instead, I'll just pass!

I think this "sweet" flavor is there to catter to the USA's world renowned obesity problem, apparently anything without sugar and or sweetening is suppose to be foreign to us.

I just realized that MARLBORO might have dug deep into the
early-'60s vault of medicinal flavors. Back then, you couldn't
expect a medicine to be any good unless it tasted bad. Since
then, we (collectively) have lost our sense of taste and replaced it
with the sensation of chemically-sweetened cardboard or Styrofoam.

                          Just my

P.S. Try this hat on for size and fit:

DAMNED: It's now been over a half-hour with an Onyx and the
MARLBORO distaste is hanging on. Maybe it takes a MARLBORO
CIG to cleanse the palate of this crap!! (Conspiracy?)

For the benefit of science, I actually went next door and
bummed a cigarette from Frank. It wasn't a Marlboro
(some brand I never heard of and quickly forgot) so this
is not a totally valid scientific report. (btw, Frank wouldn't
even accept a Marlboro snus in exchange and since I like
him as a neighbor I didn't press the issue. He had previously
turned down any snus I offered him.)

In a nutshell: The cig tasted like crap but I managed at least
three-quarters of it before disposing of it (yes, properly!). To
make matters worse, it did absolutely nothing to dispel the
chemical distastes from my oral senses.

                              Then I remembered my
Tom's of Maine Peppermint Baking Soda Mouthwash
                              .

I did some intense swishing and followed that up with
                              Thunder Wintergreen Snus
                              ... Some definite relief
ensued but I know now I'm in for a long day!!
