Thank you for posting your experience MojoQuestor. As a long time freezer, I have had my own experiences, not quite that old, but awful close. I have long tried to reassure folks that, if frozen, dates are meaningless.

I may mark one of my cans and just set it aside, to be broken open in 5 years just to really make that point.

EDIT - and you have it in the perfect place. It is a snus tip, don't stress about the dates if you have frozen your snus.

Pretty sure I know who the "pal" is. I have a year old can as well. It's still in my freezer unopened, but that's because I don't wanna get burned out on Onyx. I fully trust and believe that the year old can will taste just as good as the can I just finished. I'll post a confirmation when I do open it for others to read and ease their minds. On a related note, I ordered some expired snus for 99 cents from Getsnus a few months back, and just opened on last week. Exp. date was early July, and it still tastes fine.

I'm guessing the LD came from me indirectly :^D

It holds up pretty well to long term storage. All the snus I've had does to one degree or another. Some aren't quite as good as new, but still very usable.

Gotland seems to take the most damage over time. I tried a tin of green to quality check for a potential trade, but I think I tried it too soon after coming out of the freezer(it was still partly frozen). I got mostly bitterness, and just a bit of the green flavor. After a day or so in the fridge, the flavor seemed to come back, and it's pretty good now, but not quite up to what it was when new. It may be the same as new, it's hard to say. I'm going from a distant memory, and would have to try a new and old side by side. In any case, it's still pretty good if not perfect.

I like the bitterness of Gotland's snuses, but I don't want it exclusively :^D I thought all the elder flavor had hit the road, but I guess it was just too cold.

I'll reveal my source once I get clearance ;-)

Someone (dunno why I'm so coy about my traders; must be because I'm so meek and unwilling to offend) sent me a can with six portions of Gots gul left, as I've mentioned. While they were good enough to induce me to order more, they didn't seem to have as much flavor as the newer stuff.

Gotland ages quick in the fridge. I don't use portions much, so they stay in the fridge for awhile. I can tell a difference after only 1 week of refrigeration. It's drier(starting as an already dry portion), and it takes a bit longer to get the flavor going. They're fine to the very end, but not as good as a freshly opened tin.

I don't think I mentioned it in all my rambling, but I love it to pieces.

Have you had a chance to try the gul? Hope you're over the crud, btw.

I hope you fare better than I am doing. I finish one and open two or three. I always have a good reason, though. I had to try General Sterk again before I could really vote in that important poll, now didn't I?

At least the Gots has an awesome can. Not that I'm trying to nudge you or anything, but, you know, it's an awesome can. Seals really tight ;-)

edit: Sorry, I forgot to whom I'm speaking. Gotta treat the Grand Poobah with respect. 'Scuse me while I bow and scrape and just back outta here.

I sent that partial Gul, which I didn't care for. Maybe the LD Black too. I've traded with a few people, I really can't remember exactly who and what. Some is stuff I've bought new, or some I have aquired in other trades. I don't even consider dates anymore. I suspect a can found in a trunk of '85 Volkswagon in a Finland junkyard would still be good.

                            Question about recently expired snus

This may be a somewhat silly question, but I was wondering if recently expired snus that has been kept in the fridge is still acceptable to use. I recently discovered two opened cans of Gotlands grey portion that I had forgotten I shoved into the back of the fridge. They both expired a little over 25 days ago. Would you continue to use these?

I have some stuff that expired a few months ago and it's still fine. I kept it in cold storage, so no worries.

                                (maybe a little dry)
