That is an interesting question, seems someone would know.

Once a can of snus it made, how do they determine the best before date?

    Is there a set standard?

You shouldn´t accept snus with a short expiration date, the fact that they are fine anyway is no excuse for retailers to sell.
Just a FYI, it is illegal to sell snus that has passed the expiration date in Sweden even if you offer discounts, which seems to have happened to some people.

I bought a roll of kronan early january it´s dated to expire april 28th. So two month minimum is the least you should expect. Otherwise you have to pay for the retailers ineptitude to order properly.

Dip and Snus both have best before dates, those dates are usually there ONLY for store retailers to switch out their product with a fresher product. If you buy a smokeless tobacco product thats before the "best before" date simply throw it in the freezer for storage. Retailers have to be more consious for whatever standard is used for disposing

It's more about maintaining a consistent flavor and pH level than anything else. Flavor may change slightly and the pH level won't be as high as fresh snus but unless you are doing a side by side comparison I doubt you could tell the difference.

            Is this snus still good?

i had a can of skruf cranberry in the freezer. The expiration date on it is 8-11-09. So i am assuming it means nov 8 09. I have had it in the freezer all this time. How long can a snus last in the freezer past its expiration date?

It'll last indefinitely. I still have snus from 07 I think, and it's fine.

To put it in perspective, I've had a can of Gustavus los OPEN in the fridge since the beginning of last November, and lately I've been using it nightly. It is moist and delicious!

                    Don’t listen to them Paladinx!!!!

They are all part of a giant government conspiracy. There is a reason they put those expiration dates on the can. That snus is toxic by now!!!!

Send it to me and I will safely dispose of it.

You guys always mention storing snus in a fridge, but what about my dark, semi-cool closet? I don't have the option of cold storage.

                        I think it'd be fine, but I wouldn't stockpile.

                          Bad snus?

So a week ago I bought 1 Thunder Berry and 2 Frosts, Berry is okay but the Frost cans are backwards(expiration date on the plastic thing u take off to store used snus)
and when I use the Frost snus , after few mins when I feel the taste I start coughing and I just feel sick in the stomach. Note that I started out using the Frosts but this has never happened to me before :\
Maybe it's just cuz the Frosts were bad or sth. Expiration date is late November '10.

                          edit:
This is bad because I only have like 4 portions left of Berry

I'm not a Frost user, so I can't comment specifically, but you may just be more sensitive to nicotine currently. My sensitivity goes up and down, and I can't make any sense of the pattern. Also, from what I've read, there's been some quality control issues with Frost. Maybe you're getting too much salt, or something like that. I don't think it's bad in the sense that it's harmful, but maybe the ingredients in that batch were a touch off.

sounds like way too much nicotine on an empty stomach to me.

If you really do think its bad though, it might be worth contacting V2 about. They seem like they are very receptive to customer concerns.

Never, Ever, in over 2 years here....EVER heard of snus going "bad" that way. Just doesn't happen. Snus doesn't work tha way. It wasn't he Frosted, i was you.

And "backwards" expiration date??? Meaning, European format?? The way it always comes from Sweden. Only cans that have "American" dates are bastardized cans meant to be sold from within he US. IE Getsnus, now maybe Northerner's offings as well.
