You might want to hold on to the cigarettes for future use. I still have the occasional smoke, but it's seldom any more than that. I smoked my ass off one day last week, even my daughter commented on it. I had 3 cigarettes :^D I usually have 1 per week or so, and that's only when I want one. It's your call, but bagging them, and putting them in the freezer might leave you a nice treat when you really want a cig. After using snus awhile, having 1 cigarette doesn't trigger the urge to have 10 more. That's been my experience anyway.

Good point, Once in a while won't hurt as a treat, I still wouldn't lablw myself as a smoker if I do. If I do light up again it would be because of a stress day at work etc. I'm just glad I'm at the point where I don't need a cigarette.

[QUOTE=bakerbarber;297929]It would be cool to still have some Crystal Pepsi stashed somewhere, but I wouldn't drink it. lol QUOTE]

wow i used to like that when it was out! that was forever ago!

oh and most people on this site are borderline hoarders! lol no offense to anyone. given the funds i would have a deep freezer dedicated to snus. but as i am new to swedish snus im just gonna take the pact act in stride, and try not to worry about it so much

oh and 3 days prior to expiration snus will still taste fine by the time you finish it.

My goal is to have enough snus on hand for about 300 days and I am close to that right now. I went to the tobacco store today that sells General and they wanted $6.99 per can now + 10% sales tax which makes a can of General OP close to $8.00. I do not want to be subject to those prices once PACT kicks in.

I'm guessing the tins you got from Northerner have the European date(DD/MM/YYYY), and aren't past due. In any case, I have snus that's 3 years old and still fine. It might not be exactly as good as brand new, but it's good enough.

Ugh. I didn't think of the different date formats. That makes a lot more sense. It also tells me that the one I thought was expired is just not to my tastes. It was Jakobssons Icefruit. By the description it sounded like a nice occasional snus, but I couldn't handle the taste for more than 45 seconds. I also picked up a Mocca Pomegranate for the same occasional "desert" snus. I really like this one. It doesn't taste like pomegranates to me, but it is still good.

I'm still very new to snus and trying to find what I like best. My current go-to is Offroad Frosted. I have a General mini white in right now. It's not too bad, but I think I prefer a little more than just the tobacco flavor. I think I might have to try one of the general mint with my next order.

Thanks for the welcome. I look forward getting to know all of you and share our little addiction.

It doesn't seem like many people like IceFruit, but it's one of my favorite portions. You should like General mint. Nice and minty, but not overboard like Camel.

Welcome tro SnusOn. Snusify posts here as well as his youtube vids. Icefruit is a nice treat once in a while. Don't worry about the best buy dates. I bought a deep freezer last week, just to hoard snus. Umm, that's all I can think of for now. I'm tired. Oh I know, I keep seeing threads and people mentioning that when they buy locally the dates are either expired, or close too. Either I got lucky today or snus does pretty well here, but the cans I bought exp. in September. Crazy.

                  I'm deeply offended.

                  I'm clearly past borderline.

My chest freezer is actually a bit more efficient when it is full compared to when it is empty - as long as the fill is something that will freeze properly.

My wife and I argued about this a couple years ago. I don't like to lose arguments with my wife (because I will hear about it for the rest of my life ), so I bought one of those $50 things that you plug into the wall and it tracks electrical usage.

First, I measured it for a week as/is (half full of forgotten frozen peas, shredded carrots, ham hocks, 5 year old breast milk (WTF?), etc).

Then I filled it clear full of gallon jugs of water then let those freeze and then measured it for another week.

Finally, I filled it full of empty water jugs.

It turned out that completely full of frozen full water jugs it tended to run less often and for shorter durations.

With empty jugs, maybe a bit better then normal, but not significantly (small enough difference it might have been related to the changing weather).

So, if you are not otherwise using the space in the freezer anyway, maybe it would be better to fill it with snus (which depending on the type of snus should be between my results from water and empty).

I, of course, spent more on the gadget then I will save using this knowledge during this lifetime.

I'm sitting here next to a cigarette I rolled up a few minutes ago. The Skruf Stark portion I had in was too tasty to smoke it right away. Then I decided I didn't want it and took a can of General ESL down from the freezer. I have that in now. Maybe I'll smoke the cigarette tomorrow. Meh.

/me from a year ago can't believe it.

I'm not even remarried yet and still can't win an argument.

                            Expiration dates.

SO! What's up with Swedish Match? If I were to buy a roll of snus right now, it would probably have a 'best buy' date of around October. But the 'best buy' dates from my Thunder WG I bought 2 months ago, is February 2011. Let along my Thunder test series 'expires' in April!

How come v2 Tobacco lasts so much longer than SM?

I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a marketing stategy. I mean the ingredients and manufacturing process are basically the same as SM products, I would guess.

I remember reading that dry snus has a longer shelf life.

                                Aah, here it is :
"Wise/Oomph/Northerner portion is a dry snus that get it's moisture from saliva, so wet it with your tongue before putting it under your lip. Because Wise/Oomph/Northerner portion is a dry snus it also has a long durability without being stored in a refrigerator."
                                .
I have no idea who makes WON for Northerner but, Thunder, I believe,
                                is not classified as a dry snus (in the range of 50-52% water just like SM);
the Thunders I've tried (and like) seem just right, moisture-wise, as do
the SM portions -- definitely no waterfall drip!!

Either way, it is a good marketing strategy.
