dates are always older when i get snus from the usa northerner. i can understand a few days because they have to make the trip over here. also they cant get orders everyday like in sweden. with that said, ive never got a real close or expired can from northerner unless i knew i was buying expired snus. makes me think their usa folks aint on the ball like their swedish counterparts are. as much as the stuff cost one should expect good dates.

With a date that recent, you're fine to use it. Just keep it in the fridge, or better yet, in the freezer until you're ready to open the can. It shouldn't be off, really. A bit dry at most.

The ones that I *believe* are expired are Gotland Flader (green), and the one with the date in the mmddyyyy format is Jakobssons Wintergreen, so I would assume they'd use the same format, but I could be wrong.

I guess I'll just try it and see how it is, but they definitely seem drier than they should be. Comparing it to my white portion General, it's drier than that.
What Chad said. Plus, keep in mind too that Swedish Match brands sold in the US(basically the 'General' line at this point. Maybe one day I'll be able to get Ettan at Speedway.)now use the American date format. So you do have to kinda think about it both ways now.

It's not expired, The date on the can is a best buy date... Meaning it is the freshest when used by that date...

so basically it never expires... :^)

I've noticed that freezed/expired snus has a tendency to dry out faster.....

It may dry out a bit, But does not mean it went bad which expire would imply.... You can still use dry snus and get the nicotine... Just sayin

Nicotine will reduce over time, but it'll still be present, even in dry tobacco.

I personally haven't recieved any expired snus from The Northerner...after I unbox my order I spend the next 5-10mins de-labeling all the crap stickers at make false claims about caner and whatnot. I check every can so I know what I need to go through first and save for later.

i got a roll of expired phantom los once think it was 3 weeks over. Not usable really dry so it went in to the trash. Now i don't order from Northerners swedish warehouse if i don't have to. But Ive had no problem ordering dip and chew from there us warehouse.

Granted, it never really "expires", but Notherner does have sections for Soon To Expire Snus and Expired Snus, which is offered at a discount. So on their behalf, there is some acknowledgement that snus that is past the best before date is somehow inferior. All I know is that when paying full price, I would like my snus to at least be before the best before date when i receive it. Maybe I'm being picky. I've ordered from both their US and Swedish warehouse many, many times and have never had an issue, so I'm going to chalk it up to a fluke. But I will be sure to remove the US warnings in the future and scan the cans as I load them into the freezer.

                          ****UPDATE****
Right after posting this I got an email from Joe at the US warehouse apologizing for the snus being past date and that they have "taken the steps to mark every box since that time with the received date and code dates to insure this doesn't happen again". I feel a lot safer now in placing larger orders and knowing that the snus will be fresh upon arrival. Once again, their customer service comes through.

                              Jakks date

                              Hi,

I just got my order from snuson today. The can has a date on it that says 04092011. Is this the manufacturing date or expiration date?

If the can is Swedish, it means the can expires on September 4th, 2011. I'm not sure how the American cans are dated.
