It probably reads 04-SEP-2011
Deciphering Snus Best By/Expiration Dates

This is a sticky topic.

If it reads "Best Before" it is American, so it would have expired the 9th of April. If it reads "Bast Befor" it is the Swedish date and is due to expire on September 4th, as stated above. It is most likely the Swedish date, although it wouldn't be unheard of if Northerner sent you expired snus.

Best Before Date - How old is Too Old?
*New here so sorry if this has been asked a zillion times. Tried searching but - like most forums - many folks don't use relevant titles. Oh well, they're probably still good people...
I just received an order of 5 cans of General Portion that are 5 MONTHS past the best before date. I may be a noob but I'm thinking that's pretty ridiculous. This is my first taste of Swedish snus but I have to wonder if the taste is accurate!
I ordered from blackcatcigars.com mainly because they were the only site I could find that wasn't charging my right arm for shipping. Any help with finding snus at a decent price would be most appreciated as well!

Looks like I'll have to get them replaced. But thanks for the tip on the alternate date format. good to know...

@ jimbob and the other members.....Please use the search button on the upper right hand side of the page. When I saw this thread I searched expiration dates and found at least 20 threads already started on this subject. I just finished merging most of the threads concerning the expiration dates on snus tins. And like you said jimbob, surely there are even more devoted to this subject but its not reflected in the title. All the threads I merged had expiration in the title. Please use the search button. And notice that I stickied this thread for the future new members. thanks
now you have 12 pages of info on expiration dates. That should answer all your questionsGrant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......
I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

IMO snus is by no means cheap but it is still cheaper than smoking.

But the other cans you say you got, return them. 5 months past the expiration date is not acceptable. I bought a can of Thunder Berry Blend from Snus2 which was 2 months past it, and if it wasn't for the fact that I live pretty far away from the store, I would return it without hesitation. If the snus is old, you should be informed and get a discount.

American General Original can expiration date question.
I bought a can of General original at the cigar shop down the road and it has the date 6/20/2012. It also has a section that says Best before by: (with nothing written here). Is 6/20/2012 actually the expiration date or just a manufacturing date?
