    Portion User Looses It!

Just ordered a 3ml Titan Icetool and the following loose snus selections:

    - General
    - Granit
    - Grovsnus
    - Göteborgs Rape
    - Probe

I've never tried loose, and have only used portions for several months now. I'm really excited to try loose and it's bringing that excitement back that I got when first ordering portions.

I will report back with my thoughts on loose as soon as I try it.

I love that feeling...it's in the mail...maybe it's over an ocean?

Those are making a pretty good list too...some i need to try myself. I didn't like the Rape at all, but that's just me.

    Icetool huh? Aren't we classy.

If you're going to do it, you got to do it right with the Icetool it seems.

The Rape is one of the few snus (portions) I haven't tried, but several people on here like it. So, we'll see...

HAPPY HAPPY FUN TIME! General, Grov and Probe are a few of my favorite Los snus. I have a can of Göteborgs Rape in the freezer but havent opened it yet.

You will enjoy it (especially your icetool!)

Good choices, man. Grov is one of my favorites and it's particularly applicable to beginners because it stays together incredibly well in the mouth. Goteborgs Rape is another of my favorite loose brands. The portions are good; you should try them some time, but the loose is where it's at.

I think you'll like it. And just remember, if you don't get the hang of it right away, just keep doing it. Don't get discouraged. I think everyone has to go through the tobacco avalanche before they get it right. But eventually you'll be able to keep that pris in for a good long time and enjoy it for all it's worth.

Just received the call from the house...the loose and the Icetool came today!!!

Just a few more hours at work and it's all mine. It's like Christmas Eve and the suspense is killing me (because the snus isn't! :lol.

            Will post thoughts and insights...

Apparently, he's either really enjoying it or dead. Just kidding. That is a very nice list of loose's, though.

Sorry, didn’t mean to leave anyone hanging! I didn’t get a chance to try it until late last night and post about it until now.

                    You’ll wait no more…

First off, like I stated in another thread, the Icetool was way smaller than I expected. Very nice though. I cleaned it and oiled it up while I went out running errands (had to go with a portion then because I was waiting for my loose to get cold).

I started with General and filled the Icetool with about 1.5 notches worth, but that wasn’t enough. I started over with 3 notches, and that seemed to be a better size for me. I put the pris in with my hands because I thought it would be easier positioning it and it worked out pretty good. I put it towards the front of my upper lip like I’ve read about on here.

I noticed the coldness, and the loose was way more comfortable between my lip than a portion bag. Now I see what the people one here mean when they say that.

I left it in for about 45 minutes or so, and didn’t really experience the avalanche or anything. I kept my face pretty relaxed and tried not to drink anything. I also noticed, loose doesn’t make my mouth as dry or lips as chapped as the portions do. With portions, a drink seems to be mandatory.

The only problem I had with loose, is getting the pris out of my mouth, but I’ll cover that in my “questions” section…

                    - Does anyone else keep their Icetool in the fridge? I just left it in the fridge on top of my General tin. Didn’t know if that would dry out the oil on the o-ring or make any difference at all.

                    - The pris seems to get mashed sown over time and flatten out. Am I not packing it tight enough, or does that just happen? I filled it to the 3 notch mark, and pressed it firmly against the lid of the General until some juice started to come out. Then I let off and did it again.

                    - How do you take the pris out of your mouth!? That seemed to be my biggest problem. I put my finger under my lip and tried to “hook” it out. It tumbled out, but a lot went crumbling in my mouth. The fact that the pris lost its shape while in my mouth seemed to be part of the problem.

                    - Last question that comes from the last question…how bad is t to digest some snus? I feel pieces coming off while it’s in my mouth, and with I tried taking it out, so I know I ate some of it.

That about wraps it up. I really enjoyed it and will be doing it some more over the weekend and see f I can’t get the whole routine down. I can see why you wouldn’t do loose at the office or out and about, but I will probably make it a staple for the house. Especially in the evening. T

his write-up turned out a little longer than I expected, so thanks for reading! Oh, and I used the word “pris” way more than I thought I would. Not a big fan of that word…

The mashing down of the pris will somewhat go away the more you use loose.

You have it right on the whole "hook" thing to take it out. Sweep back to front and down. It is somewhat messy and takes some practice. The best thing to do at first is to have a sink nearby. turn the faucet on and be ready for a quick swish of water to clean out your mouth. Some snus brands come out easier than others. Having a tissue nearby to clean your finger is good too.

As far as keeping my icetool in the fridge; yep, I sure do. I am quite forgetful and always lose things. Tossing my icetool on top of my can in the fridge is a sure-shot way to know where it is.

And as far as digesting it... dont worry, it is still brown when it comes out

The snus will flatten out after being in awhile, you can also expect to eat a fair amount of it, at least I do. I preferred method for removing the snus is to pry bits out with my tongue, and spit them outside. If I need more discretion, I hook it the way you did, and get most of it out in 1 shot. Anything that's left I just chew on(coarser snus'), and eat. My preferred pris size is 2 ticks, very well packed, that's individual choice of course. I like a chilled IceTool, but it hardly ever is. I keep mine in a little bed of fabric in a old Gotlandssnus tin.

Putting it in an old snus tin, that's a good idea. Thanks!

Just to clarify, when you say 2 ticks, is that when you can see 2 ticks and the 3rd tick is parallel to the Icetool barrel? Or is that when the 2nd tick is parallel to the Icetool barrel?

I align the second click with the top of the barrel. When I compress the snus I can't feel the plunger move. That's how tightly I pack it from the tin. I showed a friend of mine the pris I made with the IceTool, and it looked tiny when I had it in my hand and then handbaked it. It feels right in my mouth though, and gives a good amount of flavor. I bet my handbaked snus' are at least twice the size of the IceTool's, but I get no difference in pleasure. It's almost like getting 100% more snus in every tin LoL.
