I just tried a mini portion of the original General snus and really disliked it! I read somewhere that this was one of the top sellers correct? Am I crazy or are there others out there that don't care for it? I can't just throw the tin away though (that would be throwing money away!) so I can tolerate them but only while sipping on a diet coke, I guess that sugary soda flavor calms down the salty snus flavor. I dunno...I've tried several others and this was just one of the kinds I really didn't care for. Hmm...
Am I the only one that dislikes General???

i've had loose, regular portion and maxi portion, along with their brother product 'onyx'.
i find them all pretty good, especially the loose, onyx and maxi. regular portions are a bit lame compared to loose, but still good in my opinion.
when i first started using general i wasn't that interested in it. it bored me a bit. but the flavor grew on me and now i love the stuff. it's just more of an acquired taste i think. a very 'staple' sort of flavor for me.

The General mini portions were my very first snus, and the only General I've yet tried. I didn't hate it, but didn't especially like it either. This of course could be the result of not having yet acquired a taste for snus, (I was still smoking) and I had nothing else to compare it to.
I've got a can of Onyx coming in the mail, and doubt I'll revisit the General minis. I do want to find one mini portion (for public place discretion) that has a good kick, and have high hopes for the Wise, which is also coming in the mail.

I think this is one of those snus that have a very distinct flavor/personality.
Above all others, I think I've seen more love/hate it for this brand.
I personally love it, although I haven't had it in several months since it was the first snus I ever had since it was available at a local tobacconist.
I then started ordering and have kind of turned my back on the product that first introduced me to this pleasure, just because it's easy to get.
I'm one of those Americans that likes ordering a wondrous product from Sweden and waiting the week (usually less) for my bounty. I don't so much like going downtown and grabbing a tin off my tobacconist's counter. I also don't like spending 6 bucks a pop.

General has a market share of more than 20% at the moment, that means it is the most sold brand, but it also means that around 80% don't like it too much. Quite simple.
Snus overall is just a personal thing. I can only recommend to try as much brands as possible, big sellers and niche brands.
BTW, I belong to the 80% who don't like General too much, but it is a very good brand and absolutely worth a try. It isn't the bestselling brand for nothing, that's for sure.
Cheers!

I have to say that when I first tried it I didn't really like it either......and I couldn't put my finger on why..........then I picked up a ton of it when I was down in South Africa as it was the only brand that Swedish Match sells down there (and CatchDry of course)
So for a few weeks while I was travelling for work it was my only snus.......... after a while I found myself really liking it.........I don't know if it is a top 5 yet because I have so much left to try but I do love the taste and I put that down to my love of Earl Grey - something about the bergamot.....
But then again having just received Ettan I am growing very partial to that as well.....and the two form a nice combination along with the GR#1 can I have open....
I guess what I am trying to say is...give it a fair chance....I have yet to encounter snus that I hate thanks to some very good recommendations on this forum......
