    Snus storage when travelling.

Sorry if this has already been covered - i did try and search. I'm wondering what happens when travelling for say a few months staying in hostels with a fridge... what do any snus taking travellers do? Any tips would be appreciated. :-)

I don't do that kind of traveling, but your snus should fine if kept warm. I'd limit open tins to 2 at a time, and keep the snus away from direct heat sources, but otherwise you should be good to go.

I had snus with me on a 4 week long road trip. I was in warm countries like Italy and France, but my snus was all good. Just do as lxskllr says. Keep it away from heat sources. Store them in the middle of your bag, or like I did, in the trunk of my dad's car.

Yeah I have traveled a lot with snus. The only place it got a little funky was in Malaysia after a 3 week trip. I was only in the tropics for 9 days or so, but after a couple weeks unrefrigerated and after a week in high humidity and very warm temperatures it was a little ripe but still usable. Otherwise I have traveled longer in more temperate climates with no refrigeration and it does just fine. In fact I don't really refrigerate open portion cans at all anymore. So, unless you are going to a tropical climate, don't worry about it at all. Especially if you have a fridge handy at times, but even if you don't.

Does the same rule apply to los as well? I'm going on a couple day trip soon and want to bring my ettan and general los.

A couple of days shouldn't be a problem, but the loose dries off quicker than the portions.

The *NEW* Aluminum Slim Boxes from Icetool could solve that problem.

                  From my experiences:

                  -White portions last the longest.
-Original portions get a bit funky flavor after a few weeks.
-Los will dry out quicker in the cardboard cans. I would recommend bringing Skruf Los, since the snus will last longer in the plastic cans.

Thanks guys! I'll probably just stick with one can of Ettan and put it in an empty jaks tin.

It's fine I don't refrigerate my snus at all. It's doing fine. It lasts until around the best before date and is usually fine after it for a month. Loose in paperboard drys out in about a week after it's opened though to the point it's almost unusable. I'd say the best white portions, then loose, and regular gets funky pretty quick, Gotlands lasts 4 days, and others um I'd say 2-3. The key is if it's not opened it's fine.

The only loose that dries out too quickly is Swedish Match, and it's because of the cardboard cans....even though I like them. Just have to use it quickly or keep it in the fridge at the hotel if staying longer than a day.

I don't know why, but until 2008, the Swedish Match loose brands were sold in plastic cans in Norway. I guess you are right. He should bring some Thunder or Skruf, then.
