Is this place a forum or an FAQ?

Notice!! Have A Question? Use The Search Option!
Your question has probably already been answered several times already on this forum. Please don't start another thread before you search for the answer before hand. The search button is on the upper right hand side of the page. Thanks

Seriously? We can't ask questions about snus on a snus forum?

If everything has already been asked and answered we might as well lock the whole thing up, and call it a day...

I wonder about that. One of the attractive things about these boards (Other than PP's awesome skin tight pics posted a while back) is the conversation on topics, even if those topics have been talked about before.

Experience and different peoples participation makes it interesting.

What's the context of the quote above?

Not at all.........of course you can ask questions

by the way Rob you should have searched the site to see if anyone had asked a question about asking questions

Seriously the point here is not to stop discussion but to organize discussion. The site has gotten much bigger and more spawling.........this makes it harder to search and harder to get information. Thus instead of two or three threads about Ettan White there are 43 that you have to sort through to get your answer. Most people will never get that far.

Therefore, from time to time before starting a whole new thread see if there is already a thread pertaining to your subject and post your question in it. You are still asking your question you are just helping to keep all the related questions together in a handful of threads.

This is not a rule or a law or a mandatory prepost requirement..................its just a request to help us keep the site manageable.

Ok, so folks are allowed to start new threads, but after they search first. I get it. I guess I misinterpreted it.

I absolutely agree.................and PP's request should in no way dampen that participation

Again it is not a rule or law................just a request to remember from time to time

Also I think a little judgment on the part of the everyone will really accomplish all that both sides of the issue want..............

Think about it..............you just tried a new snus.............it is the best (or worst) snus you have ever had..........you want to talk about it, share your thoughts on it, listen to what others have to say (not just about that particular brand) but your experiences with that brand. Start a new thread

Other times you are looking just for information and not really a discussion.......... you want to know if Northerner will ship snus to MD.....................all you need is really a yes or no answer...............thats a good time to use the search......................then if you have a short blurb or your 2 cents worth to add you can post it on the already existing thread. The forum is kept neat and the already existing thread is carried forward by your input

            The result:

Lively, relevant, heart felt discussions continue freely

Monotonous, unnecessary, repetitious threads are limited
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

I'm sorry, I thought about my wording over night. I just woke up and was going to change it somewhat so people understand why. Dog covered it pretty good. Mostly its the new members. They all seem to have the same questions and no one ever does a search for the answer before they post their question. This was obvious recently when some new members asked the same old questions. Both questions had about 30 other threads each. So I took the time to merge most of the threads. And thats the whole problem.....if the members took a moment to do a search then the mods wouldn't have to take hours organizing things. The occasional fix isn't a problem as long as the members try to find the answer first. We don't mind then.

Dog is 100% correct. This site is getting bigger and bigger all the time. And I'm always thinking ahead and trying to get things in order for the future of snuson. Its nice to have everything organized as much as possible so things are easier to find.

If you all haven't figured it out yet my personal problem is I like things perfect. And I can be compulsive about it. Its not really a good thing as you might think. It really sucks big time. In my case this trait is herditary. I got it from my dad and I passed it down to my son. I have worked hard to free my self from this compulsion but its very difficult. Its just too hard to let things go. For example, look at my posts. Almost all of them are edited because I can't let one stinking spelling error go unfixed. You might find some but those would be few and far between. Sorry bout that.

Anyway, I was going to PM dog today and have him edit those posts to apply his magic words to them so everyone understands them better. So heres my request in public. Dog will you please reword those notices for me? Thanks

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

As a "newbie" of 3 months posting and asking questions I have always searched first. Sometimes I have gotten frustrated in my search as there are so many links to threads that have little or nothing to do with the question I have. That is when I have started a thread regarding my question. SnusOn is a wonderful place to come and learn all there is to know about snus from the people who use it. The members here have always been very kind, generous and patient in helping this new snuser learn the ropes

I ignore notices like that on all forums. Forums are for conversation. Ignore and converse people. Its all good.

Truly searching before asking redundant questions is considered status quo of proper forum etiquette. Additionally you will most likely get the question answered faster by finding it yourself vs waiting for someone to respond to it again, and often they will respond with a link to the post you should have searched for or simply use the search. Additionally even if an existing post does not answer your exact question to the level of detail or you have a follow up question posting it in that original thread will potentially notify others who have posted on it previously faster than waiting till they happen to logon and hopefully see your new redundant post.

I would like to add that when I was new to a forum I had no idea that you could use the search feature and when I did found it there were so many options I was lost. Once I got the hang of it the search was a god-send and I used it all the time.

                              there's a search option?

                              just kidding.
