    Question about freezing snus

    Hi all,

Just received my first large snus order (27 cans). I only use about a can per week, so a lot of this snus will need to be stored long-term. I put most of the cans in the freezer after it arrived. My question is - how long before I want to use a can should I remove it from the freezer? They're all portion - no los.

    Thanks guys!

I hope you wrapped them first... To answer your question I think most people take them out 24 before they need them and some don't even wait that long...

I personally like to pop portion in straight after I take em out of freezer, nice and cool, especially when you got some mint snus.

Ideally I put them in the fridge 24 hours before use after freezing, but it doesn't matter than much. My hypothesis is it helps the moisture equalize, but it's untested.I've used snus right out of the freezer, and it's fine.

24 hours seems to be general rule although i haven't experienced or read much about any negatives going just from the freezer. Personally, i don't think you need to worry about sealing that much. I don't seal any of what i have in the freezer. I only use los but haven't noticed anything much dried out if at all from being 'naked' in the freezer over a year. Might want to ask nicodude about how portions last. I sent him an old can of Claq that was naked in the freezer for around a year.

Portions straight from the freezer, 24 hour defrost for los.......I don't wrap them and don't have a problem.....over a year past expiration.

I use them right out of the freezer, if needed.
                      I use Ziplock vacuum bags.

My Pact Act stash is still fresh over a year since freeze date.
                      I'm down to 48 cans.

My favorite portion is a frozen one. I look forward to removing a can from the freezer and popping a portion in before the rest defrost. lol

Chalk my vote up for freezer-to-mouth! If possible, keep your freezer on a middle or low setting for best moisture maintenance. Also, definitely keep your unopened snus in freezer bags!

+1 for freezer bag but I wonder about the low to medium setting.. I am not saying that's not right because I have no idea but why? I would thank the harder the freeze the more moisture that would be sealed in the snus. Then, as long as they are vacuum sealed there can be no moisture loss due to the dehumidifing effects of the freezer...

60+ in vacuum sealed bags. Straight from freezer to mouth! Why wait?
