Tips To Make Quitting Tobacco Use Easier.

Somebody had to start this thread. Sorry.

OK. some of us started to use snus as a vehicle to quit smoking. It worked oh so good. Most of us quit smoking altogether and quite easily I might add. But surely some of us would prefer to stop all tobacco use....forever. We might all keep that in mind for the future. If and when you, as an individual are ready to quit.

That said. Do any of you have any good methods for quitting snus?

Don't hate me for starting this thread. I was just thinkin that it might be smart to have some info on the "next step" in quitting all tobacco. We all say that snus helped us quit smoking pretty easy so how will we quit snus? Many people look at snus as the first door to open when quitting smoking. So whats behind the next door? Got any suggestions for the people that might be ready to quit now?

Lets keep in mind that this is a serious thread that might be read by a lot of newbies....
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I think your right in making this thread.. All of us I believe, never intended snus to be a permenant thing.. Just something to get us away from cigarettes as we learn to live without them.. and most of us are here, still snusing a few years later. I do plan to quit snus in a few months when my stash runs out.

I wish you the best of luck mate. If you are of the right mindset I don't think it will be too difficult to quit altogether.

Snuff has gotten me away from snus. I haven't used any snus in over a month........except for one portion of 59 extreme to try it out.

        Now.....to get away from snuff......

I quit smoking with a combination of snus and snuff (Railroad Mills and Society). Giving up nicotine altogether would be great, but right now I'm just glad I'm not cooking my lungs any longer.

Ya gotta die of something :^D

Honestly, at this point, using tobacco feels like a fsck you to modern society. Aside from everything else tobacco gives me, knowing it's pissing someone else off makes it special. I don't see me ever quitting :^)

Personally, I don't feel any need to quit smokeless tobacco -- especially snus. I'd trade in 0.2 years of life for contentment until I die.

Anyway, the easiest method to quit snus would be to "taper down". For example, if you use 8mg portions, switch to 6mg portions (General Silver), to 4mg portions (General Mini), and then to dry 4mg portions (CatchDry). I'm under the impression gradually quitting nicotine is much easier than abruptly quitting it.

I'm with you, I'm planning on staying with snus for the long haul. Nicotine and me had too good a relationship for me to ditch it completely.

and I'd trade a bit of time also if I needed to. That won't bother me at all untill....say.....those very last days.

I plan on quitting. The only tips I would offer (and I haven't tested it yet, but it is the method I'm gonna attempt) is to get some nicotine free snus, and slowly start alternating out with those, until that's all I use, and then start switching those out with gum, until I'm completely free.

Nothing wrong with snus really. It's a food.
Nicotine is already naturally in many fruits and vegetables. If it's 99% better than smoking.
It's probably better than drinking mountain dew or some other poison.
Not only that the ph level in snus is very high. It's not acidic!
So you'll notice your mouth is so much better than when you were smoking.

This is how I am going to leave snus when I do. I am not much of a snuff user because it does not give me much of nicotine feeling at all but I know it must be there. This might fight off those initial cravings for a week and then eventually, well hopefully that will be the end of the addiction. It might also be good for those bad relapse cravings that come down the road also. Had quite a few with quiting the smokes but just double barreled.

To get off of snuff I think those non-nicotine versions (especially menthol versions) would still give that blast to the senses.

Always thought I would smoke until they pried my pipe from my cold, dead hands but snus really changed that. Now I expect the coroner to remove the last pris but maybe my mind will change on that someday, too. Haven't given it much thought as I'm really enjoying using snus too much.
