The only tip to stop tobacco in any of its forms is ---

    TO STOP USING TOBACCO...

    there's no other way

    and....

    cold turkey...

even if you have to go through severe withdrawals/depression/misery

    there's no other way

I went from smoking to snus and back to smoking...

the nicotine demon is still there and will only vanish when you stop feeding it for a decent while

    ohh

^ the problem with nicotine is that it's the most addictive substance known to mankind that why they say that the tobacco is the devil's plant...... I have been on and off nicotine for the last 4 years and only managed to gain depression/anxiety that just won't heal completely... it's no joke.....

people that have been successful in quitting smoking/or any form of nicotine have done it cold turkey...... yep ....right out of nowhere... they just stopped.......

I preferred the hard way... trying and failing a gazzilion of times .............. well............ that's just me ... I always took the long road lol in just about anything.... but as they say it's better later than never...

Ohh PP by the way there's http://www.killthecan.org -- they have a wonderful forum with a lot of friendly users in there

    lmao

My plan is to never reorder my favorite snus. I have since run out so I have about 30 different cans right now and none are all that great to me, I am just not enjoying any as much as I did with my favorite and have naturally reduced my intake. So far I have not tried another snus that I would want to reorder...not to say I hate them...just not falling in love with the flavors. So for me, quitting will be tapering down in usage rather than nicotine strength, and this is already happening. I haven't been stressing about leaving the house without my snus, the love is just gone without my favorite around. With the reduced usage I have also not been experiencing the crazy mood swings I used to get when I would chain snus my favorite and have to be without for a couple hours. I just use less and less per day and have even had some cans dry up before I reach the bottom...hate to admit this, but I just simply ditch those cans...I would never have ditched my favorite nor let it dry up, I'd use it all before that happened. Sorry this isn't advice how to quit, just my personal story.

I"ve been to killthecan. I lasted a whole 40 seconds from the time I signed on. Actually the idiot counted down from 10 to 1 to give me a chance to post KILLTHECAN but I refused to say anything i was so dumbfounded and I was just there to look. When he reached the number one I was immediately banned. lmao. what an ass. Guess they aren't serious about helping people quit.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

My mother has stage 3 Alzheimer's. She never touched a nicotine product in her lifetime.I intend to reduce my odds of ending up the same way,by continuing my use of Snus. Nicotine is good,Smoking is bad.

Chantrix works. As with any medicine some people are prone to side effects. And it is expensive, but less so than a habit if you are successful.

                    Just quit lol

I just saw this recently, but yeah I've actually quit using tobacco for about 42 days now, after about 7-14 days it's not hard.Essentially just don't ingest nicotine ever period. The strongest cravings I had were for cigs though which is interesting. I think for most people it's not that hard. Something like 50 million people are ex-smokers. Also it's worth noting I smoked cigs some on vacation and then quit for two weeks, I thought of myself as an ex-smoker I was craving cigs even though I'd mostly been dipping cravings for dip were occasional and snus cravings were almost non-existent. I occasionally just drive to a store without thinking and then realize oh yeah I don't need to buy dip, so I ended buying monster and was drinking like 6-8 a day, that was a ride and probably why I didn't sleep well.

I was in a 50 dollar bet with my cousin ("I'm not addicted man I smoke american spirits") and buddy (smokes and dips) and they would push back the date we quit on every day and they both dropped out I have yet to get paid. I read some stuff on whyquit.com, some of the stuff seemed weird to me, but most of it's pretty good advice. Basically it more specifically argues don't plan to quit just do it, he strongly advises against weaning off smoking. My experience kind of contradicts that since when i was in alaska I went from a can every 2 two days to one every week b/c you couldn't use due to food regs (which for me was you couldn't spit it out) after a job change I could use more snus but realized I didn't need to.

Honestly, at this point, using tobacco feels like a fsck you to modern society. Aside from everything else tobacco gives me, knowing it's pissing someone else off makes it special. I don't see me ever quitting :^)

One of the many reasons I use snus. I recall putting a portion in at an internet cafe and one person (presumably American because of his accent and he knew that what I was using was tobacco, maybe he thought it was dip) stood up and pointed at me and yelled "YOU'RE GONNA DIE!"...I calmly replied "and you're going to live forever?" He was speechless after I said that. I then continued enjoying my Camel White Portion while playing a game of Warcraft. It's always endearing to know that you're pissing off the anti-tobacco nazis 24/7

For me............. I plan to quit snus shortly after dying

It's not so much the "cold turkey" method.............as it is the "dead turkey" method

I also plan to give up bourbon and my long standing fascination with bouncing boobs at the same time..............so I might be a bit cranky in the afterlife...........

Hey wait...............this is starting to sound a lot like I'm in................ hell

                          Snusdog:

I have "quit" snus once, and it lasted for 2 months. It was easy in the beginning; much easier than I thought it would be. But then I started to really miss the taste and feeling of it, so I started again. What I did though before I "quit" was to use 4 mg portions for like a month/a few months. Then I used Onico (tobacco free pouch). Worked like a charm! But I was severely addicted to Onico during those two months... and heck, they almost cost as much as regular snus...

I'm don't think I will quit for a long time! It's way too enjoyable. If I actually do quit though, I will probably start snuffing full time.

FACT: Playing WoW will more likely lead to you dying via sedentary diabetes and lack of exercise long before snus will

good luck desirex, "wanting to quit" snus is enough to help you quit -

I've tried numerous times to quit nicotine and I always relapsed to either smoking/snusing.

Now I've quit cigarettes again but just can't live with the idea of not snusing at least 2 - 3 portions a day......... I become severely nervous with everyone, it's like that only for a while, then, at least in my case I fall into depression after 3 - 4 months nicotine free but that should go away too -

Go for it if you think snus is affecting your health, life, budget or whatever by all means.
