    New to the mix.

    Hi guyz.

Im new to the Snusing world and had a few questions. I bought my first ever box of Marlboro Snus and I must say that I luv the flavor but Its not really giving me any kicks. Ive been reading this site for alittle while and have noticed how everyone raves on the ACTUAL snus and Ive been wantin to try it. Im the type who carrys it around so Im kinda concerned about the snus drying out and becoming bad especially in the summer months. Any suggestion there? I also would like to know what I should start out with? One other issue Im having is on how to fold the portions? I believe some of your fold lengthwise but what is lengthwise? Just a few newb questions for you guyz. Snus on!

    Hey there! And welcome!

Well, if you worry about the snus drying out you should probably go for the white portions. They're 'dry' compared to original portions and therefore not as effected by temperature.

A good way to start is by ordering one of the samplers from either buysnus.com or northerner.com. They'll give you a decent perspective on the real stuff. Now, some would say that they're not entirely representative (as they typically don't really contain any of the more flavored types), so you could also check out some of the threads in here where people rave on about favorites - and then simply compose a sampler based on what sounds interesting to you. Personally I'd go for the latter option.

Now, I'm not a 'folder' myself, but I'd say that lengthwise is according to the welding of the portion. Not the end-weldings but the big one going all the way across (but I don't know if the Marlboro portions are welded in the same way? Anyone?)

I may be a bit sloppy with my portions, but I let them sit out for days at a time. If that's the case, and a portion is a bit dry, I'll stick it in my mouth and moisten it for a few seconds before inserting it with my tongue into my lip. Regular portions, as opposed to the white portions, seem to work better with this technique. I'm not a big fan of white portions so far.

Ok. I'll keep that in mind. As far as Marlboro portions, they are mini so II dont think I would have a grand time trying to fold them any kind of way so I just lay it flat with the seam facing out. Well Im off to go read some more reviews Thnx guyz!

I find that, if anything, snus tastes just plain gross when it's anything above room temperature. I'm not as fanatical about keeping it cold as I used to be, but it's almost a must with regular portions. You do have a little more leeway with white portions, though...
