    Homemade desktop tin cooler

Got an idea for making a desktop tin cooler...

I haven't been keeping my snus chilled or in the fridge or anything yet. I probably should. Anywho, I had an idea that, if I don't get around to trying soon, someone else may give it a whirl. Pretty simple I think.

    You need:
Thermal Mug with lid - large enough in diameter for a tin and tall enough to hold a 12 oz. beverage can plus tin.
    Empty 12 oz. beverage can
    Can Opener
Ice (probably crushed - big cubes may not work too well)

Using the can opener, cut the lid off the beverage can (a tin food can would probably work too).

Add some ice into the can and place the can in the mug. Add ice to the mug around the can as well if there's room.

Set your tin on top of the can and put the lid on the mug.

The can keeps the tin from settling in the melting ice and water from getting into the tin. The can would also act as a conductor for removing heat from the tin. I suppose too you could fill the mug with ice and shove the can in upside down so the tin would set on the bottom of the can. That may help the tin stay cooler.

There's an ice machine at my office so I have virtually unlimited amounts of crushed ice. The main hurdle is really only ice availability. This would work in a car too I think.

That's a pretty good idea. Not really usable for me since I'm not in an office, but I'd definitely try that if I was a cube dweller.
