I'm still using snus that expired in early 2008. It's probably not as good as right off the factory line, but it's good enough.

some people freeze everything. I try not to freeze certain flavored portions because I don't like the taste.

But far as dates go, if you freeze it the worst thing to worry about is it drying. Try to seal them in plastic leaving as little empty space as you can. The air is your enemy and air in a freezer is very dry. Some people vacuum seal their snus and it's probably a good idea.

I put about five cans in a stack, wrap it up thick with plastic film food wrap, roll it up tight and put tape around it to keep the air pockets down. When I get a can out I use a knife and cut it off like a hunk of bologna.

You will know its bad if its too dry to use or taste too bad to use. i don't think it can "hurt" you being old. I have read papers where scientist let it set at room temp and tested it month by month. The bad stuff would just barely grow because its pasteurized. Don't try that with American dip unless you want to have jaw surgery to remove cancer.

I freeze everything just because I'm weird and will go on tangents with different snuses. Basically, I never know how much of a roll I'll go through and it's only my basement freezer that I actually have room to put a few rolls in. But anyways, I don't shrink wrap snus, but I pretty much use everything before a month or two after it's out of date. I bump the above post though because snus really doesn't go bad in the freezer. It is more of a factor of going dry and if you don't plan on using it more than 2 months past the expiration date, you prolly should put it in bags/vacuum freeze it.

I just recently finished my last 2010 can. It seems to keep just fine provided it is in a freezer.

Would try to vacuum pack it if you can.
