    Snus Discretion

    Hi all,
It is possible that I will be getting a job in an environment that strictly forbids tobacco products of any kind (you can't even enter the building with a pack of smokes). Bearing this in mind, are there any suggestions for discreetly using snus? I use the mini-portions, however I still feel as if there may be a slight bulge that is visable, particularly when I am talking or smiling. I have a mustache which definitely helps to diffuse the obviousness of the bulge, however I feel as if I may be using snus incorrectly, as other users I know do not have any notable bulges.
Any recommendations as to where I should place the portions for maximum discretion? (Top, slightly to the side on either side, way in the far back of each side etc.)

    Thanks,
    Artie

Put mini portions in an unmarked container, and if anyone asks what's in your mouth, tell them gum. If they persist in questioning, show them the outdated pack of Trident you keep for such an occasion. Or move the portion farther back in your mouth.

Yes! Use Northerner snus. No one will ever know it's there. It comes in a tiny white pouch and does not have any tobacco smell. The only thing is you will need to grab your knees when you pay for shipping.

Same issue here, I've never had anyone notice and leave mini's in all day. I put them in my upper left side.

Here's one thing I do. There are various brands of non tobacco, herbal pouches. They clearly say non tobacco on them, the portions look just like mini portion snus. Get a can and put your mini portions in one. If someone notices the pouch, pull out the can, unless they are going to send it to a lab....

One brand is Smokey Mountain, they will send you 2 free sample cans with ship, make sure it's the portion.

I'd walk into work with a big lip of los and a huge stoggie.......and tell em to kiss my ass

Otherwise what the others have said sounds like good advise
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

I'm in a similar situation. My hourly break-taking to switch portions is starting to raise eyebrows. I've developed such a pocket it isn't noticeable in that way, however. I would recommend white long portions.

Guess it depends where you work and what your role is?

Can't say anyone has ever noticed my snus use at work at all. I don't make a big show of it, of course. I'm desk bound computer work, not client facing, but I do go to a lot of meetings with senior people. Never thought twice about not packing a portion.

Maybe it's different in the UK where we don't have a big culture of oral tobacco, like the US and dip, so most people don't expect people to be using oral tobacco.

Halocog - interested to know why you need a break to switch portions? If i need to toss a portion, I'll just wander to the kitchen to make a cup of tea and toss it there, or go to the restroom - all legitimate reasons to leave my desk.

Then again, for all I know everyone's talking about me behind my back "Oh look, old lumpy lip's at it again"

Contact centre work. Everything is timed down to the second. If I have to move from my desk, I have to switch modes on my phone. They keep a very, very close eye on it.

I agree entirely. Why work for a company that wants to revive the Third Reich?

Got ya. I've done similar work in the past, so understand.

I worked in a "tobacco free" work place (hospital), and used regular/long portions without issue really. As long as you aren't actively spitting (not a problem with snus), or adjusting portions, no one will (should) be the wiser. If they have enough time to examine slight alterations in your facial structure, they have way to much free time (or you're working in a very very secure work environment). As far as your original question mate; placing the portion either upper left or right shouldn't be an issue. You could attempt to place a portion a little further back on the sides if you wish, but I find the ''drip'' is a bit stronger in such a location. Of course, this is where white/dry portions make a huge difference! As Halo said, he's developed a ''pocket'', after a while of snus use, you will develop the same.

Granted, lös is a different story, I've had to leave the lös at home while working in such places.

I work face to face with the public all day and not one person has said a thing about it being in there, even my bosses who I talk to all day have not noticed. I put it in the upper lip just left of center.

I used to work in a call center too, we were allowed to take "personal" breaks which had to be under 5 mins and if it was excessive they would say something, but I smoked then so it wasn't an issue! I quit that place over a year ago and believe me it was the best decision of my life! I'm not a sheep and I didn't like being treated like one.

I would imagine being treated like a sheep wouldn't be too bad...

                          if you had enough lube.

I think Frosty can explain a bit further.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I work at a call center and we're pretty lax about unscheduled break taking and they aren't too harsh on metrics. having an after call work of 9 minutes one week compared to a typical 3 minutes might raise eyebrows but people who have always been at 9 seem to have no problems (kind of promotes staying shitty at your job which i dont like.) Depending on if I feel I can pee or not i might duck into a bathroom and take a 2-3 minute unscheduled break to pee flush my portion and put a new one in. Otherwise i can put used one in the ash tray lid because i keep them in my backpack. I can reach into my bag and take out a fresh portion without ever exposing the can to the open. That being said I don't think my work would have a problem with me using tobacco on the job, maybe they will have to "officially" tell me to stop which will mean just don't get noticed by someone higher than an operations manager or something.

What kind of job are you working where you can't have tobacco in the building?
