Mod's - Sticky this thread or one like it? I can't remember how many times I've seen a similiar one pop up with exactly the same stuff.

Agreed....Over weeks or months. Why, what I use one of a day get chilled. But snus I am just going through never does. the longest it takes me to finish a can of sterks is a week

Quick update: Unfortunately I had to go back to smoking cigs today:cry:. I have a kidney stone and the snus is making nauseous. But on a brighter note, I am getting the stone blasted tomorrow and I should back to the snus in a day or two. The snus is great though, I have smoked a pack a day for over 10 years and I have had zero cravings. People have told me the first 3 days are the hardest, but this has not been the case for me. I am really glad I found this forum with all the support. Just wanted to extend my thanks for all the posts and replies.

tap9981, one of the wonders of snus, just don't stress bout the smoking issue at all. For the next several months, just do what you want at the time. I promise, the snus always wins, but can take some time to fully win over. You don't need to do a thing, just use what pleases you.

It's magic, and I have been here now through literally thousands of people going through the same thing.

kinda late but ill throw in my input

like they said you can freeze unopened cans...i have a somewhat small fridge right now so i just throw my unopened cans in there

opened cans i will rarely ever put in the fridge they are usually gone in a day or two so no worries

there really isnt an "expiration" for snus it just gets kinda dry after leaving it out for awhile

but it is very enjoyable cold

              Storing snus ?

OK....now that I've amassed a decent collection of snus, I just realised I won't be able to use it all inside the next four months or so....so some long term storage strategy is probably in order...

Now I guess the best way to store it would be vacuum packed in the freezer. I have both a vac packer and a freezer......but I don't have any room in the freezer as it's full of foodstuffs and my wife doesn't want it full of snus (we've already had this battle about hop storage, and I lost that...)

I do have three large fridges though that I use for storing home craft brewed beers, and the one with the lowest temperature sits at a constant 2C (35.6F). It's digitally controlled and the temperature is very stable. I use it for cold conditioning lager beers.

Anyway, up until now I've just had the snus in a box in this fridge, but today I went and vac packed all but the half dozen cans I plan to get through in the next couple of weeks.

So how long do you reckon vac packed snus will stay FRESH (not how long will it last) in a 2C fridge?

                  snus storage

You technically don't even need to put it in the freezer. The refrigerator at the temp you have is actually the best. I know this because I own a my own website and have done extensive research with the vendors finding out how to store the large amount of snus I have in stock to keep it the freshest.

Vacuum storage is great to keep any additional moisture out of the snus to keep it from going bad. You will be perfectly fine with putting them in the fridge you have going right now.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I gladly am willing to help out in any way I can.

Yeah, I have never bothered with bagging, had snus well past a year past best by date, NO issues. Same as fresh snus.

And nice to see you and your knowledge hanging around Jonathan.

I keep mine in freezer bags, not so much to preserve them, but to make the storage more neat, as they hold 3 rows of 8 cans each. I don't vacuum them though.

I've put away a ginormous stash to protect against snus armaggedon, and an idea I stole from someone here is to use Pringles potato-chip tubes for storage. They just happen to be the perfect diameter and length for holding a roll. The caps don't seem to seal well, so I added some plastic wrap held with a rubber band to the tops of them. So far that seems to do the job. I recently pulled out a few cans from a couple of rolls that have been in my freezer now for several months, and it was just great, no issues at all. Maybe this wasn't all necessary, but using those tubes does keep things tidy and that sort of thing, and even though I have a pretty good sized freezer and no wife to negotiate with, I am planning on doing a lot more snus storage and it helps to have an easy organizing and retrieval system when storing a lot of it.

The only drawback so far is that I've had to let my belt out a notch ever since making the contents of all those Pringles cans go away to make room for the snus.

Storing unopened rolls of snus in the freezer

                              title says it all

i have 7 unopened rolls in my refrigerator....is it safe to store in the freezer longterm like that or is it better to break open and vaccum seal?

shouldn't really matter. Sage has his cans bare naked in the freezer and he says they're still good.

i've just put all mine in the fridge, haven't used a freezer since my first few months of snusing.
