Do the seals last a long time?

I've had a set of 5 (different sizes) going on 2 years and I've only had a problem with 1 container; don't know if it's the gasket or the container... didn't try to use that container 'til about 6 months ago -- kinda late to chase down a receipt (it was a gift).

The 2 I have also came with extra seals packaged in each container just in case for future use if needed. I think they all come with extra seals that can be replaced..... The FreshVac site has A local store locator, So you can see if there is a store in your area.... I had one 30 min away.... But saved the gas and time and ordred them online....

Glad to hear they are still lasting 2 + years as I didn't know, My guess is they would last even longer with the extra seals that are given with them... They also come with A lifetime warrenty and that info is included.....

Hope mine come with the extra seals; the original set came with nothing extra.
(Would be nice if one of the seals would fit my not-sealing container!!)

The store locator for me was useless.

Just got the Fed-Ex tracking number -- they should be here Friday.

I did get the Professional series, I would hope that doesn't matter in getting the extra seals... Keep us posted when they arrive

My original set is a PRO.
The basic difference, I thought, between the PRO and the PRE was with the handles.

              Well...
The things we miss when in a hurry:

What are freshvac containers made of?
freshvac containers are constructed from either polypropylene or polycarbonate plastic.
              • freshvac PRE: BPA-free polypropylene bottom and lid
              • freshvac PLUS: BPA-free polypropylene bottom, and polycarbonate lid
              • freshvac PROFESSIONAL: Polycarbonate lids and bottoms

              Does freshvac have a warranty?
We believe that freshvac is manufactured from the highest quality materials,
which is why we stand behind our products.
              • freshvac PRE has no warranty.
              • freshvac PLUS has a limited warranty.
              • freshvac PROFESSIONAL has a lifetime warranty.

The PRE probably doesn't come with any extras!!
Figured I'd save a few bucks with the PRE...........or maybe Penny Wise, Pound Foolish.
              Time will tell!!

They look really nice.. I've just been using the ziploc vac deals and they seem to loose the seal so keep us updated on how they work on the long term.

So far, I've had good luck with the Ziploc Brand Vacuum Freezer Bags.

Have over 20 Ziploc gallon bags of snus in the freezer (and a few quart bags), from which I've removed a few cans in the past week and resealed with no problems; hopefully nothing changes in that respect.

I've had problems with the Reynolds/Debbie Meyer Bags (not as rugged and made to be refrigerated, not frozen). I've only had problems with a couple of the Ziploc bags and found it was due to some pinhole caused by something I was trying to vacuum seal (sliced cheese in a plastic container).

If you overstuff the bags, you'll have a sealing problem if you can't find a flat surface for the entire seal area; I've placed a snus can under the seal area itself to bring it more in line with the enclosed cans and ensure a proper seal.

ON ANOTHER NOTE: My freshvac containers are due in today via FedEx (my first time with them). Right now the FedEx site says On FedEx vehicle for delivery. Hopefully I won't have to wait all day ('til 7pm) to find out if I did actually order the wrong sets!!

                      Containers Update...

                      ~
My freshvac PRE containers arrived in good condition via FedEx late yesterday afternoon.
They came by Ground even though I had paid for Express Saver; waiting to hear from freshvac about the screwup since shipping was almost double for the Saver!!

Opened up a set of each, square and rectangle. Vacuum-sealed each one for about an hour; there were no problems. (The sealed containers still have a full vacuum seal this morning.)

Filled the biggest container (12.7 cup/3 liter square) with 17 unopened cans of snus with some jiggle room to spare; could still fit in 4 of the smaller mini cans with no problem. They've been sealed overnight, and still have a full seal this morning. I foresee no problems with them. Now I can combine the 2 containers of pre-PACT opened cans and save a little fridge space.

There are some differences between the PRE and PROfessional containers:
                      • PRE containers are made of 100% BPA-free polypropylene, whereas the PROs are made of Polycarbonate and contain Bisphenol A (BPA) as a key building block
                      • the PRE containers are not as rigid as the PROs but look like they'll still last a good long time (they're not as rigid but still rigid )
                      • the freshvac PRE has no warranty, the freshvac PROFESSIONAL has a lifetime warranty (and the price differences attest to that)
                      • the only extra that came with each set were the soft gaskets that fit on the vacuum lever

Overall, I think I got a pretty good deal on each double set as noted above. YMMV

Storage and Vacuum Seal on a budget

I saw the video on vacuum sealing your bags on SnusCentral. I just bought one of the Ziplock Starter kits and some extra bags. This thing is f***in' awesome! I spent less than $6 on the starter kit and the extra bags. Now all my snus is vacuumed sealed for optimal freshness! I strongly recommend it to yall!

If it helps, I only use regular zip loc bags for long term storage and have never had any problems even when the expiration date is from long ago. For short term I just leave it out or in the fridge. I have left snus out for a week at the office and have never had any problems. I think the key is just not to let your snus get hot for long periods of time. Snus does not store well in the car.

search "Vacuum sealer" and you'll find about 20 threads on the subject. Everything you always wanted to know about sealing snus.

personally for long term storage there is nothing like an electric sealer and a freezer. Good for 5 years easy.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I have one of those also. I find that they don't hold the seal very well. Any suggestions to encourage them to stay sealed??
