    storage while travelling

Going away for 4 months with 60 cans, its gonna be very hot n humid and i wont have access to fridges. I have a vacuum sealer but it squashes the cans a bit like its sucking the air from inside the can. Does this damages the snus? They're whites. Also in the last month they'll be past use date. Will the vacuum pack keep it fresh enough even though they won't be cold?

I think vacuum packing is your best option. It will slow down any degradation of the snus - but if it's kept very warm the tobacco may ferment anaerobically a little despite the vacuum packing which could change the taste and increase the TSNA levels in the tobacco.

I'm dealing with this very same issue right now. Closer to 30 cans in 5 ziploc bags. Almost every one leaked but it was a 14 hour flight.

Used the ziploc thing again to get the air out and keep them in the fridge when I can but next week will be without refrigeration most of the time.

          Also concerned!

Where you at mill? I used a vacuum sealer. I packed each can individually. The skruf cans turned out ok, the cans pretty much kept their shape but the general cans got squashed. All the air was sucked out of the can aswell. I opened one and its like compressed mini snus!

I am actually in Myanmar for the next weeks/months. Lived here for some years in the 90s so I knew to bring what I could rather than dealing with trying to get it by mail or courier.

They do have a strong tradition here of chewing both tobacco and betel nut.

              The Odens cans did great....

Will be doing a thread on Old Ving later today....

I'd vacuum seal them in lots of 6.

Keep them out of the direct sunlight and they'll be fine. I've had a six-pack like this for over a year and the snus was still good. I'm sure there was some additional fermentation but I couldn't notice much of a difference. I guess the regular portions changed the most but I kinda like them when they get a little on the stale side. I don't know why, but for me, the tend to drip less. Seeing how it's white portions you'll definitely be fine, IMHO. You can always add a drop of distilled water to each can when you open the sixer. Just one or two drops and let it spread throughout the can for say 24 hours.

                Godspeed.
