    Snus Terminology

    Hello everyone,

I have been reading the forum for quite some time now and I have not failed to notice quite a bit of Swedish terms flying around. I have a good idea of what everything means, however it would be nice if someone would post a list of terms for us less educated the ways of Swedish snus and language . Thanks!

Maybe you should list the words you dont know so we can translate or whatever. but most you should just guess. I speak fluent Norwegian, which is kinda similar to most swedish words so i understand, but just ask the specifics and you'll get an answer

One of these days, maybe someone who has all of the proper terminology down could compile all of these and make a sticky... 8)

Well the one I am most confused about is the difference between a pris and a prilla. Can someone explain that? I have seen them used and they seem almost the same but I know I am wrong.

And yes I was hoping someone would someday make a sticky of all the terminology. Thanks!

From what I understand prilla is short for pris. And it didnt make any sense to me since prilla is a longer word and takes just as long to say.

My understanding was that prilla was slang for pris. Kind of like it takes longer to say hizzouse, but it's still just slang for your house. Personally I think both examples are stupid. It's a pris and a house. Leave it at that. These words have worked for hundreds of years, is it really our job to start updating the language now? I don't think so.

well iam no swede but prilla is a true swedish word and pris (the same as price $$$) is more an international term orginal from french also used in sweden. nasal snus is also pris

the word prilla issent made from the word pris but has somthing to do with
the shape of the snus ball eg pellet shape

                      so pris = a pinch nasal/oral snus
prilla = a pellet of oral snus

it is hard with the skandinavin words as they are wery complex an have a LOT of menings in particular danish and swedish

In norway we say it this way:

                          Pris : Loose
                          Prell: Portion

Prilla is swedish, but I guess it means somewhat the same as prell.

btw: a web search for "prilla" will turn up more results for some Disney fairy character than snus-related info! Prilla, the character must be some low-grade fantasy creation, as I have several young nieces and I've never heard them mention her.
